Key Additions: Alonzo Mourning, Zoran Planinic Key Subtractions: Anthony Johnson The Nets resigned Jason Kidd, which was hge for their organization. Without him, the Nets would falter. But also important was the resigning of Lucious Harris. This will come back to help them financially in 2 years, when Kittle will most likely be let go(for luxury tax reasons). Harris will then provide the much needed starting SG. But for now, he adds scoring/shooting/defense off the bench. And lets not forget their newest frontcourt addition, Alonzo Mourning. A healthy Mourning is one of the best centers in the league. He will add defense and shotblocking much needed upfront. Not to mention, be a good mentor for Jason Collins. Grade: A Outlook: Poised to repeat as Eastern Conference Champions, but also poised to be a 3 time Finals loser. The Nets got better, no doubt. But the West elite did as well. And by significantly more. The Nets could use a reliable backup PG. When Kidd is out of the game, the Nets struggle. Planinic is too green to run a playoff caliber team. The Nets will bring him on slowly. But who runs the team when Kidd heads to the bench?
Good Points. But I think when Kittles goes Planinic will start at sg. Harris is better off the bench.
Nets still didn't fill their shooting guard situation....They are lacking a real good three-point shooting..Mourning IF heathly will be a huge plus for them...but their real weakness was outside shooting..mainly in the finals....If Hubert Davis gets released by D....then I would go after him If I was the Nets Although as I say this...Sources tell me the Nets have offered Steve Smith a contract for the league min...3 teams are interested and they are of course Nets,Heat and Hawks who have also offered him a contract.....So if Nets do indeed get Smith then it would overall be a pretty good off-season for NJ

The Nets have arguably the worst half court offense in the L. Nobody (with the possible exception of "White Choclate" Williams) shoots pull-up threes off of a fast break. This means that the Nets would have to set up an open three from their half court offense. I really don't think they can do that. They rely too heavily on fast break points, and the JKidd-KMart pick-and-roll. Then again, Steve Smith is a vet who would probably be playing limited minutes. Brining him in would provide a distraction (because his three is respected), and free up the inside for guys like KMart. That would most likely increase the quality of their half-court offense. LOL, I think I just argued for both sides of the discussion .
