ESPN Insider is reporting that the Nets-Portland deal is close to being done. The deal is Kittles, Williams and #22 pick for Rahim. The Nets also cancelled all the workouts with draft prospects . So this deal will probably be announced after the expansion draft.

That trade still doesn't really help the Nets, they still need shooters and they trade away their best and only one? seems pointless.

That trade alone is not going to get them to the finals. If this trade happens then the Nets need to somehow get Ray Allen, thats the only way this trade with Portland would seems logical.

Well I would say the nets are giving up alot. And if they continue there past streaks of bad trades like mutombo, and bad signings like zo, they will not be back in the finals next season. They need to aquire some quick players to play on the team with a great denfese and great shooting when they are in the half court they cant really excecute the only reason they score so many points is because they get out on the break alot.

This seems like a decent trade. But to give up the 22nd pick is really bad cause that is our future and there are a lot of decent players in this draft. Looks like the nets are trying to go big and quick. I really hope that if they make this trade they try to get at least 2 decent shooters in the half court. Like Barry cause it shows that you dont need high priced players to be good just look at detriot they are not as pricy as other teams. Also they must be looking at somebody in the second round of draft.

This trade all of shouldnt isnt a good deal, nobody said that we were giving up our 1st round pick in any of the rumors I have heard. If kittles & our 1st round pick(which was rumored we may take a wing guard like Tony Allen or Luke Jackson) are both gone then we will have a major hole at the 2-guard. And seemingly no way to fix it.

And if this does mean that we are packaging K-mart to the Sonics for Ray Allen in amother deal, then I will be extremely disappointed. And I think we would be taking a step back in the wrong direction. Martin is the blue collar heart of this team. And it cant function the same without him.

I hope the Kenyon Martin for Ray Allen trade isn't real. Ray's a great player and one my favorites but Kmart anchors our defense. Ray Allen has the talent to be a good defender but most times doesn't play defense, where as Kittles always plays tough defense. So losing two key defenders for scoring? I don't think it'll work. Detroit didn't need to 20 point scorers to win, they just used tough defense. Hopefully Kenyon still stays and RJ works on his 3 point shot a lot. Then the trade will be worth it.

I doubt that I can post a ESPN Insider article here. My board has the Insider article and the link is in my sig if anyones interested in reading the article. Todays article is stating that the Trailbalzers want the 1st round pick if the Nets want this deal to get done.

Haha..naw I wasnt doubting your truthfulness. And if it came off that way then my bad on my part. I was just saying that us giving up the #22 pick is competely new to me. I have been reading this trade rumor in the NY Post & Daily news, they even talked a little about the trade on a local sports talk show Mike & the Maddog, and never once did any of those source say the trade required us giving up the #22 pick.

So ESPN making the report is kind of new for me. And I really dont like the trade anymore

Yeah I dont like it either. Thats too much to give up for a perennial loser who hasnt done anything on a winning team. Can he handle the playoff pressure? I sure dont think so. I hope Rod The God turns around and trades Rahim for Ray Allen. Sonics were supposedly interested in trading for Rahim during the trade deadline last year but didnt want to send Allen to a team in their own division. If Rod The God pulls this off I would build a statue of him right next to the CAA!

after some strong consideration, with the 22nd pick kittles and williams wont work that too much stand to lose alot of good players. and it seems like the nets are scared that they are not going to be able to keep martin which is scary. If they are unable to keep martin then they have to stongly consider else is out there. Sorry to say that for all you kmart and nets fans but we also gotta to think of the whole picture here who else is out there that could be an impact player if we cant keep martin.

I like what you said kidd fan trade kittles and williams no 22nd pic for rahim and then turn around and trade him to seattle. keep the 22nd pick and get the best shooting guard left in the draft so when allen leaves them we will have a decent sg. but that all depends on if he get played as a rookie. Rahim is a good player but hasnt had a chance to be on a decent team like the nets. he could work out only if he started at center. i'll give him that much credit

    Imagine this lineup!

    Jason Collins/Free Agent Center
    Kenyon Martin
    Richard Jefferson
    Ray Allen
    Jason Kidd

    Holy God! Im drooling!

Nice line up but we also need a bench. That what detroit showed have great defense and a bench will win you the championship. We didnt lack the defense but we did lack the bench and scoring severely. But that is an awesome line up martin will get you 15-20 pts rj will get about the same allen will get 20 or over and kid get is his 10-15 pts center spot will get you 10-15 points as long as they rotate them.

Agreed. But we still would have the MLE. Sign the Barry brothers to play the backup SG and PG positions. Sin Eddie Griffin with the LLE and we have a new EFFECTIVE bench.

The Rockets seem to have a lot to offer in terms of the bench aspect, I suggest looking around in the Heat and Hornets also. Their bench has some decent depth within it. SAR is really going to help out in the effort and rebounding aspects of the Nets, he's consistent also, I like the look of how this is going to turn out. However I wish our players leaving all the best, you tried hard and did good for us, we'll miss you.

Seattle will not trade Allen for SAR, they weren't interested two months ago and won't be now. I also doubt NJ will get Brent Barry It's more likely he will sign a long deal with the Sonics or go to San Antonio.

There's no doubt the Nets need a shooting guard, which I feel will need to be done via trade.

That had nothing to do with it at all, they didn't like the deal when Shareef was in Atlanta but Portland kept pushing it. To say the Sonics weren't interested because Portland are a division rival is straight up silly.

SAR is not even close to the talent or player Ray is.
