This thread will be used to discuss and report any information regarding players the Nets have brought in to look at prior to the draft as well as the comments made about them.Nets Work Out Shawne Williams, Hassan Adams ScheduledThe Nets Thursday worked out Shawne Williams, the 6'-9" freshman forward who played for John Calipari's Memphis Tigers this season. Williams, one of the more versatile freshmen in the country, is projected as a late first/early second round pick. Also working out Thursday: Saso Zagorac, a 6'-8" forward who averaged 19 ppg in Slovenia this season. Hassan Adams, Arizona's 6'-4" swingman, will also work out later this month.Brazilian Intrigues, Boone Impresses Net BrassA little known Brazilian power forward, Leonardo Dos Santos, turned some heads at the Nets draft workouts Wednesday. While the Nets admitted they were impressed with Josh Boone, the much better known Connecticut big man, they were intrigued by Dos Santos, known as "Morro" in Brazil. Ed Stefanski described him as "skilled" and "interesting". The 6'-11" Dos Santos, was Brazil's top shot blocker last season. Meanwhile, Rivals.com suggests who could help the Nets in the draft.Williams Workout Ends Early; Bobby Jones Up NextShawne Williams didn't get to show the Nets all that he has Thursday. A stiff back, exacerbated by a 7-hour plane delay, led the 6'-9" Memphis forward and the Nets brass to end his workout early. Ed Stefanski called him skilled but "somewhat raw because of inexperience". Bobby Jones, Washington's defensive specialist, comes in Monday. Meanwhile, Rod Thorn bemoaned this year's free agent crop and said the Nets would be focused more on the draft as a result.
i've been thinking about taking boone and johnson in the first round if they are both available and going with dee brown in the 2nd round. orlowry and boone/johnson and a sleeper in the 2nd roundwe really need big men. i want johnson alot bc of his ability to block shots. thats what we need.
James 'Flight' White, Kevin Pittsnogle Workouts ScheduledTwo Big East players expected to be available to the Nets on Draft Night, maybe even in the second round, will work out for the team late this month. James "Flight" White, 6'-7" from Cincinnati, and Kevin Pittsnogle, 6'-11" from West Virginia, are scheduled to visit East Rutherford on June 20 and 24, reports Draft Express. The NBA Draft is a few days later, on June 28.International Players Start Trickling In for WorkoutsWith most European leagues either done or down to their last games, international prospects have begun arriving for workout tours of NBA practice facilities. Oleksiy Pecherov, a 6'-11" Ukrainian forward with a resemblance to Keith Van Horn, will join Bobby Jones on Monday at the Nets' Champion Center, the third international to work out so far.
Taj Gray to Work Out Next WeekTaj Gray, a 6'-9" Oklahoma power forward most draft boards project as a second rounder, will work out for the Nets and Mavericks next week. Gray's anatomy may move him up in the draft, however. Nets individual workouts will resume next week after Rod Thorn and Ed Stefanski return from the Orlando PreDraft Camp. Gray got generally good marks in Orlando Wednesday as did two other prospects who have already worked out with the Nets: Jordan Farmar and Kenny Adeleke.
Hassan Adams Will Work Out Next WeekHassan Adams, a talented if undersized Arizona swingman, will visit New Jersey next week for a workout and Rod Thorn says it's possible that Adams is first round material. "I would say he has a chance based on what I'm hearing," Thorn told the Arizona Star. Adams, who has had somewhat of a troubled time with the Wildcats, is generally seen as an early to mid-second round pick.
Washington, McGrath Added to Friday WorkoutsTwo point guards, Darius Washington of Memphis and Donnie McGrath of Providence, will join UCLA big man Ryan Hollins Friday for a workout at the Nets practice facility. Washington, who has played both guard positions, is thought to have improved his draft stock during the recently concluded Orlando PreDraft Camp.
