<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">May 29, 2004 -- AUBURN HILLS The Nets failed to advance to the conference finals after two straight appearances in the Finals. So naturally, they raised ticket prices. But at the same time, the Nets did make it far more reasonable for non-millionaires to attend games.
The increase is for the premium spots ? seats priced over $275 increased by 6.5 percent as the average ticket price went from $70.74 to $75.31. But the team also established 3,000 "Screecher Seats," in the upper level, priced at $15. Additionally, the Nets will offer a limited number of $10 seats per game.

"We want to increase our loyal fan base by offering more reasonably priced tickets," said Nets CEO Rod Thorn. "At the same time, due to the economics of doing business in the NBA, we will be forced to raise certain ticket prices for the first time in two years." </div>

Yeah I read this in the News paper yesterday, it seems like the worst time to start talking about raising ticket prices, They are losing fans because alot of people are disappointed they want to leave Jersey in a couple of years. And alot of people dont even know what this team is going to look like player wise, but Nets ticket prices are not that expensive especially compared to the other basketball option in the tri-state area the Knicks,so I guess a small raise was needed.

I don't think the average fan pays $275 for a ticket, and I don't think the people who do pay that price really care about paying 18 bucks extra for their premium seats.
In fact, by adding 10/15 dollar seats they will rather attract people than scare them away.

i think they should wait till we get our new roster set so people can see what they will be paying for. im sure we will make an improvement, but you never know that we might get screwed in the offseason and not pick anybody up and not improve our team. if they raised prices last season after we signed zo, then it would be successful b/c people wanted to see zo and knew we improved our chances of winning a title. if zo comes back, which he obviously is trying to do, and we pick up key players via FA or trade, then raising the prices will work. i still dont think they should, but it all depends on the team rod puts together and how long we last in the playoffs. this might be good b/c it will put more pressure on rod to make us into serious threats for the title by adding new players.
