<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It took a Jefferson to get Kevin Garnett, but the Nets had the wrong one.

The Jefferson the Timberwolves wanted was in Boston, where the Celtics used the 6-foot-10 Al Jefferson as the biggest piece to land Garnett in Tuesday's blockbuster trade. Earlier this off-season, Minnesota rebuffed a Nets' offer that included Richard Jefferson, Nenad Krstic and Marcus Williams for Garnett.

The Nets didn't have the pieces, expiring contracts and draft picks Minnesota wanted in order for New Jersey to get Jason Kidd the power forward he always wanted. The package that brought Garnett to Boston was Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff, Gerald Green, two first-round picks and cash.

"There's nothing to be bothered about," Nets' president Rod Thorn said. "That's life. They obviously wanted Al Jefferson. They felt he was the best player they were offered."</div>
