Yesterday the Nets released the roster of players invited to this years training camp...of course all but 1 roster spot for the Nets is pretty much been filled..so here is the list of guys invited to camp to try to make that last vacant spot. Derrick Zimmerman (6'3) Guard; Miss. State Ricky Shields (6'4) Guard; Rutgers Adam Chubb (6'10) Center; Penn Ben Handlogten (6'11) Center; Western Mich. Authur Johnson PF/C (6'9) PF/C; MizzU Full Roster ----------- Clearly the Nets goal is to try and find a halfway decent bigman to fill out the roster. But Ricky Shields was a nice combo perimeter player at Rutgers, so if the Nets dont see much from any of the bigs and Shields impresses I wouldnt be shocked if the spot goes to him. Right now my money would be on Authur Johnson he is a nice wide body out of Missouri. He can score with his back to the basket in the post, something we can use on the roster. I could see him filling in for a few minutes here & there when our frontline is limited.
Ben Handlogten seems to be the best and most logical choice for the last spot. At this moment I still do not think that the Nets have enough big men incase one of them gets injured for a long period of time.
Does anybody know what happen to Marques Estill, it was reported that the Nets signed him to a training camp contract...Buit he isnt on the roster. I would have like to see what he could have done because I briefly remember him from Kentucky. And he had some promise before the foot injury.
