New York Daily News<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Once the New Jersey Nets get Vince Carter's signature on a four-year, $60 million contract, insiders say they'll investigate making a move for the Portland Trailblazers' Zach Randolph.Randolph's post presence would give them an attractive alternative to Carter's outside work, while his board work is something they definitely could use. To get him, they'd have to send a big package to the Blazers, starting with Richard Jefferson, whose development is being hindered by Carter's presence.</div>Link

NY Post<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>New Jersey Nets President Rod Thorn reiterated that the Nets have had "no conversations" with the Portland Trailblazers regarding power forward Zach Randolph, who has a low post offense the Nets could sorely use.Another league source said a deal for Randolph that could involve Richard Jefferson is not completely far-fetched, although he terms it as having a "long, long shot" of getting done.</div>Link
That move would definately benefit both teams. The Blazers whole franchise has been turned around now that they got that #1 pick and I think that Nets team would be an improvement although I doubt they get past the second round. Especially if they face a team like Chicago,Miami,Detroit,Cleveland.
The Nets DESPERATELY need some inside help, if this deal goes through, then both of em would do well...
If I were the Nets I would trade Carter before Jefferson though, all these deals the nets are doing are short-term fixes and once Carter and Jkidd decline this is going to be a TERRIBLE team. Probably amongst the worst in the NBA if they trade Jefferson.

RJ is not a guy you build a team around, so it is smart to make short term fixes as the Nets have a GREAT shot of winning the East if they do a move like this.
