<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Air Force: Chris Mooney resigned to take the head job at Richmond after just one season. Former Denver Nuggets head coach Jeff Bzdelik takes over. Coaching at any of the military academies is challenging, simply because of recruiting. I have faith in Bzdelik as a coach, but as a recruiter?

DePaul: Losing Dave Leitao was a big blow, but hiring Jerry Wainwright from Richmond softened the blow a bit. Wainwright is widely regarded as a great Xs and Os coach (like former Spider coach John Beilein). Can he go into the inner city of Chicago and convince local kids to stay home?

East Carolina: Former Virginia Tech head coach Ricky Stokes takes over. Hired by new athletic director Terry Holland, who was Stokes' coach at Virginia, he has a great opportunity with ECU in Conference USA, with just a handful of teams at a "very good" level.

Florida Atlantic: CSTV analyst Matt Doherty got the job in mid-April, surprising some in the business who figured he would hold out for a higher-profile job. But Doherty says he just wants to coach. Let's hope he has the patience to get it done in Florida.

Fresno State: They made a bad hire with Ray Lopes, but a much better one with Steve Cleveland, who brings much needed integrity to the program. Why Cleveland would want the challenge is another story.

UMass: A very, very, very curious hire. Eastern Kentucky's Travis Ford gets the nod. One might expect a candidate with better Atlantic Coast ties - and has Ford really proven himself?

New Mexico State: Reggie Theus is a sexy hire. He looks good, talks smooth and carries a big name. But can he get it done as a head coach? He already has some transfer commitments. The jury is out.

Purdue: The least surprising hire, considering Matt Painter was the head coach-in training this year. A lack of talent and a killer schedule make it a daunting task. But a great decision by Purdue to hire Painter.

Tennessee: Bruce Pearl cashed in on U-Dub Milwaukee's NCAA dance, and boy, did he take a jump in pay. The Vols campus couldn't have housed Pat Summitt, Phil Fulmer and a big-name coach, so maybe this isn't such a bad move.

Tulsa: Doug Wojcik gets the job that his former boss, Matt Doherty, really wanted. A Michigan State assistant, this is Wojcik's first head job. Playing in the new Conference USA will be more challenging than the WAC.

USC: Tim Floyd for Henry Bibby. A great move. The recruiting is already paying off. A plethora of top talent in LA makes this an easy fix.

Virginia: My alma mater. Dave Leitao was not my top choice, nor many other alums', but it's not such a bad move. He's young, proven and has a tremendous work ethic. And he won't bring in the type of kids that former coach Pete Gillen did.</div>
