For the past year I've been collecting original, vintage posters and framing them. I found a gem: A 1970 Jimi Hendrix concert promo from Germany. Finding non-reprints isn't cheap, though. For example, the rare Nazi propaganda posters easily go $2000 and up. My favorite in my collection so far is my authentic Hunter S. Thompson sheriff campaign poster (1976) ::edit:: My mistake, The Hunter poster is from 1976.
Honest to goodness, I have some in my moms garage in Portland. I will have someone check to see if they are usable, and you can have them. I know I have several sports and babe posters......if you are interested? I have a full size Marylin Monroe poster with her skirt blowing up, and a Farah poster
Would be interested in a pic of that Thompson poster as well,... haven't seen that one before. Cool hobby though. I've got an old Skynyrd concert poster from the early 70's that I got from my friend's late father's office. I also have an old Chili's LA concert poster from the late 80's, but that probably isn't be half as cool now as it is a few decades from now.
I collect books. I reckon I will my entire life, and physical books will probably become rarer and rarer. My grandpa gave me almost 100 science fiction and fantasy books from the 40s-60s, most of them I couldn't read cause they were so ridiculous, but there's some Asimov, Heinlein, and Clarke in there.
Right on! This is the Hunter poster design: And (hopefully) the next poster, if I can find an original: One on my wishlist, and one I have to save up for: Apocalypse Now (Japan) It's fun and I highly recommend it!
right on fez i have an old "altered states" movie poster from a theater, pretty dope my dads given me a bunch of old hippie posters from the 60's, more into obscure movie posters though, have one called " the man with two heads" a movie about an old racist who gets his head sewn onto a badass shaft type brother, pretty neat
A 1943 German poster exhorting citizens to keep their lights off at night to hinder Allied bombings reads: “The enemy sees your light! Blackout!
a few years ago at work we had an extensive collection of linen backed posters and lobby cards. Like thousands of them, my boss bought a lot in the 80s....lusted heavily after the james bond lobby card set. Mainly elizabeth taylor movies, ronald reagan, etc... Donated most for write offs and the rest we have been putting in auctions over the last few years. Check out juliens auctions, which is who we deal with, their catalogs kick ass and they have several good auctions for this stuff. {Poasted via palm pilot}
