The Nets have a couple new (able) bodies to use (or use more), including elden, and donell harvey. I doubt they will be used more than 5 or 10 minutes each as Lawrence Frank doesn't seem to want to play players until they're acclimated with the system (unless they're bonafide stars like vince). Mercer and Planinic are also off the IR, but I think they were just dropped to make room for Scalabrine and Buford... broken hands (planinic) usually take longer to heal right?
The Nets have a realistic chance of winning this game, however, I am on edge about wheather they will have the energy after not getting a day to rest after last night's game. Boston is not a big team, therefore it seems to me like a fair match-up...a very simular one at that, as the Boston has an expericaned PG in Payton, and Phenominal player in Pierce, and an explosive player off of the bench (R.Davis)...I would personally say that Davis might be the x-factor in this game. It will all go down to how the Nets will be able to contain a man with fresh legs. Mercer and Plananic will travel with the Nets, and therefore not play, according to the NYPOST: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Maybe they haven't been washing the Nets' uniforms with enough Downy or maybe there really is something in the drinking water in New Jersey as injuries continue to mount across the river at an alarming pace. While the Nets added two names to the IL, they also took two off in activating both Ron Mercer and Zoran Planinic. Head coach Lawrence Frank said the two will not travel with the team to Boston for tonight's game, but will practice the next two days and could potentially be back in uniform by the weekend. Planinic was on the IL since Dec. 4 with a broken left hand and Mercer was on and off since Nov. 13 with left knee problems.</div> http://nypost.com/sports/nets/39702.htm
