*I say Key cause I even included players who will help bridge gaps for a few weeks for injury, but may not have a key prominent role all season. RB/TAZR- Seastrunk, too talented to not have on the field, especially with a year of learning the system under his belt, and him being hungry and pissed. I can see some crazy wishbone type 3 back sets like in the Natty, where they motion Barner to the Slot. RB- Dontae Williams. Brusier, but I could see filling a Remene Alston type role next year where he gets some PT due to a couple games injuries, and some PT in blowouts S- Malone and Dargan will be Special Teams standouts, but will also get some PT with Javes Lewis leaving early. WR- Vaughn, will have some big shoes to help fill with Davis and Maehl gone, but he is physically ready to do it I would think. WR- Keanon Lowe, Will get time in the slot, I can def see him as a downfield threat. WR- Blackmon or Sumler either or while the other Redshirts.. another downfield threat. DB- Marcus Davis, transfer from Texas, I fully expect him to start opposite of Cliff Harris. DB- Dior Mathis, Redshirted last year. wont start, but I really like this kid, and you will hear his name a bit. LB- Lyerla, I dont know how you keep this kid away from being a LB with his size and athleticism. I have no problem with letting him play both ways, but he would/will make a huge early impact as a LB. LB- Wallace, I def see a Michael Clay type impact his first year. DB- Terrance Mitchell, redshirted, from what I read did extremely well in fall camp, but was able to preserve his RS, should push for Playing Time. TE- David Paulson... I know I know first team all Pac 10 how could I write this? But the dude has some sure hands, and with Maehls hands being gone, I expect Paulson to at least push for Honorable Mention All American. DE/TE- Curtis White, I have no idea which side he will play on, but he has some obvious talent. The rest, I think Isaac Remington, Ryan Clanton, and Rowland and Heimuli will play big roles on the line next year. Who you guys got?
I look for Darron Thomas to take his game to a new level. If anyone has a shot at the Heisman next year, it's him. Obviously they don't give it to running backs any more.
I'm looking at Huff on Offense to bring his game to a new level now that Davis and Maehl are gone. I've heard good things about Dargan and the writing was probably on the wall for Lewis with both Dargan and Malone going for that backup safety position.
yeah thats what I'm thinking now as well. They probably were gonna pass him up, and his "stock" wasnt going to get any higher. So why not try it out. I wish him well and thank him for his efforts for us. And his fumble he caused against Stanford that Pleasent almost took to the house.
I'll start my guesses with Rowland and Clanton emerging as starters on the O-Line... both are huge maulers who are supposed to have shown well in practice while redshirting this past year. With Maehl and Davis graduating, obviously there are some WR snaps to be had. I'm guessing they are filled by committee rather then one or two guys standing out from the pack though Vaughn probably stands the best chance. QBs rarely make it through a full season without some sort of injury so Bennett will probably get his chance to shine at some point. Pretty much every media guy I've read has said he looked like a tremendous future Duck QB in practice throwing probably the best ball of the 4 QBs last year. He benefits not only from having a year to learn while redshirting but from having directed a spread offense in HS. I've also recall a Kelly claim that he can dunk a basketball from a step inside the FT line. I'm not sure if Ebert starts but he should be part of the regular D-Line rotation... I'm expecting big things from him. True freshman Wallace could make the 2 deep as an inside LB... if Colt is to see the field much next year, OLB seems the most logical spot. Having started as a true freshman at Texas, Marcus Davis is a good bet to see the field a lot at CB. Dargan, Mathis & Mitchell should get some snaps too... Dior could be in the mix returning punts mostly I expect the guys who had limited roles last year to be the ones stepping up into the departed starter's spots as thats the way it usually works http://web.nmsu.edu/~ogden/oregon/depth2011.htm STOMP
