    Eric Piatkowski a rocket..

Rockets signed him last week..he averaged 9.7 PPG..and shot nearly 40% from three this past season...how will he fit with houston? and houston also said they will not match the grizzles offer for james posey...woal.com reports rockets are interested in signing spurs free-agent stephen jackson..anyone heard about this?

I think he might start at Small forward.

I highly doubt that he will start at SF. I think Boki will get some considerable minutes at the SF slot and even potentially start for us. However, Eric has started before and provides us with good line-up flexibility. I think the one good thing that adding Eric gives us is that of a good shooter. He dropped over 80 three's last year for the Clippers and gives us another good shooter to go along with out club. Our starters are still in question. The only players that are for sure starting that I know of are Cuttino, Yao, and Stevie. The SF and PF slots are wide open but I think Griffin will get one of them.

piatkowski will get good minutes and be a good perimeter shooter. he was a good signing even though i think jackson would be better. and signing piatkowski means that they won't get jackson. but he should be effective for the money they are paying him. he won't demand shots, but he can hit shots from the outside.

Do you know what he is being payed? I havent heard of the figures. Hopefully we can also add Jackson, however now that looks like a slim possibility. Jackson is a Houston native so just maybe we can get him too.

Piatkowski is not a SF and her certainly won't start on the Rockets. However it gives them good depth and they really have the ability to put points on the board in a hurry. They'll be a threat to score from any spot in the gym with virtually any line-up they put out there. I f Eddie Griffin or Bostjan Nachbar can break out and Jeff Van Gundy gets the guys to play some 'D' they will be a tough beat. I think they're the most under-estimated team in the L right now.

Surely if they let posey go..they must have a player inline to replace him? as they need a player like posey to play SF..rockets wouldn't be interested in Sjax unless they have plans to sign him...right?

i think i heard that piatkowski was getting 3 years 8 million. not completely sure, but that's what i remember. and i think posey's offer was 4 years 24 million. so piatkowski is getting almost 3 and posey is getting 6. so if they let posey go for salary cap reasons, even if jackson only got a contract the size of piatkowski's, they could have just kept posey. and jackson can get more money than that in a couple places.

jackson is a young guy who has had to work pretty hard to get his place in the league. i'm pretty sure he would rather be secure financially than play an hour and a half away from his home town.

or he can live in his hometown making a million or so less, where the cost of living is much cheaper than most other parts of the country, and theres no state income tax.....

Your right houses in Houston are pretty cheap compared to other places in the United States.

I see rocketeer's point clearly though. At Jackson's stage in life he probably wants to make a name for himself and rake in the dough while he still can. This means signing a goos sized contract with a team that can afford to pay him well(i.e Denver) Then later in his career is he wants he can take a pay cut and come live near his hometown. I still wouldnt mind seeing him in a Rocket's jersey next season.

That's true. Stephen Jackson needs to make sure that while he's still "hot" (after his successful (IMO) season with the Spurs) he gets as much $$$ down as possible, regardless who he plays for.
