EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- A New York man has been charged with stabbing a fellow Jets fan during their team's home loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Thomas J. Conwell, 21, of Brooklyn, was charged with aggravated assault, accused of stabbing Shawn Hundley, 19, of Roselle after the two exchanged words while using urinals in a Giants Stadium rest room on Sunday.

State police said Conwell began taunting Hundley, who was wearing a Jets jersey with the name and number of injured quarterback Chad Pennington. Conwell then took out a 3-inch folding knife and stabbed Hundley in the face, neck and ears, authorities said. A bystander who tried to break up the fight, Henry Finnila, 24, of Freehold, also was stabbed in the head and neck.

Hundley was treated at the scene by medical personnel. Finnila was treated at Hackensack University Medical Center and released.

Conwell was being held at the Bergen County Jail on $25,000 bail.

His arrest was the most serious of nine made by police at the stadium Sunday night.

    The Jets lost 21-19.

I personally have never encountered this, but from what i hear people from New York are @ssholes. I didn't have a problem when i visited, but i only stayed for a day.

Classless fans are not specific to NY....every city has its share of assholes....when you make a blanket statement like that, it just makes you sound bad....

I've been to ATL games and they were bad, but not enough to bitch about. All i hear from other boards are how bad other team's fans are treated in N.Y. Go to saintsreport and you'll see a list.

I have to agree with Beef. There are good and bad people everywhere. I don't judge New Orleans by it's looters. Of course, I have a sister in Luling and have been to New Orleans several times. I met some really nice people in New Orleans and have a streetwise sis and bro-in-law that know where not to be and when to not be there. Louisville has some really cool people and neighborhoods. I can also show you places where you wouldn't want your car to breakdown even in the daytime. I'm not going to judge all Jets fans because Thomas Conwell is a criminal and needs to spend time in jail. What about our own J-E-T-S? I like to give him a hard time, but he's always a great sport about it. The truth is that there's good people and jerks everywhere.

sAYING THT KIND OF PISSES ME OFF BECAUSE THEYRE JUST JUDGING A FEW PEOPLE AND using it against the whole state. What ive heard is tht people from New Orleans are looters and dont care about getting things they need but taking electronics at times where they should try to get food. Saying this just isnt right. Of course there may be people tht do stupid things in NY but im pretty sure theyre all over the US. There probably have been many things going on at football games we dont know about. If all people in NY are like J-E-T-S than i geuss they all are assholes [IMG]

I've been to NY several times (my favorite city) and I have actually never run into anyone who was rude. In fact, most people - complete strangers even - went out of their way to offer assistance when I needed it.

I really don't get the whole "New Yorkers are Jerks" bit. I can't count the number of times I've been to NYC, but it has been a lot. I'm looking forward to my next trip (hopefully in January - then again in March).

Well if we're talking about other cities project communities New Orleans does take the cake for the most idiotic. I was just simply stating that all i've heard was bad, except from VF, about New York's fans.

NY fans have no class? Are they all dropouts or just King of Queens wannabes? LOL.

Have 2 disagree w/ my fellow DWO-ites; Salt Lake City is full of jerks, idiots, & a$$holes but there is no place like home.

i guess its time for one of the only guys from NY to respond huh....

first of all bleed the fact that you made that kind of statement towards people generally from NY is ridiculous and a just plain ignorant thing to say. This guy is like others said a criminal i'm pretty sure you have criminals in New Orleans right. When you make that type of statement i feel as if it is directed towards me which i'm sure its not but it kinda feels like it. sure u've heard a lot of bad things about NY but usually one bad thing is heard more than 1000 good things. Its kind of sad that that is the world we live in.

all cities have bad fans but that doesnt mean that if one fan is bad all are bad dont you think. there are many more great people in NY than the bad people as there is in most cities. i hope everyones response gets this dumb assumption out of your head because you could say the same things about fans in Detriot (brawl) or Chicago (baseball onfield fights) or New Orleans (looters) etc etc etc but i'm not going to say that because i know that thats only one or two people representing that whole city of fans. I mean just because Beef and DD represent the Miami area doesnt mean i think bad of Miami i mean i overlook that [IMG]

if i type more i'll just repeat myself but this is generalistic statement that i kinda resent

I represent Miami?!? That's funny. I guess I should confess that I have never been to Miami once in my life. I've only been to Florida once. When I was in the Berea College Concert Choir, we sang at the Epcot Center on Spring Break. I can understand the confusion though. Perhaps I need to hire Tom Jackson to yell "from Louisville!" whenever I post.

J-E-T-S is supposed to know that the thread wasn't directed from him when a thread about a Jets fan stabbing someone has the title, "New York fans have no class?" If someone starts a thread, "Dolfans Have No Class," you'll have to forgive me if I take that personally. I'm sure Bleed didn't mean for this thread to be an attack on J-E-T-S or Mystery Man, I can understand why this type of generalization would get under their skin.

I'm not sure why we didn't take up for Eagles fans. I'd support a four game suspension and deactivization for the rest of the season for "conduct determental to this message board" for the trouble maker who made that statement. Unless I was the one who said it and then I demand a 38 page explanation for my suspension, an arbitration hearing, a public defense by Jesse Jackson and an interview with Andrea Kramer to explain why I'm so misunderstood.

I do think this says something about how Americans are trained by the media to focus on the negative. The focus of this thread has been that Jets fans are jerks because one Jets fan stabbed another. No one has said anything positive about the guy who got stabbed trying to break up the fight.

The difference is that, with so many people in New York, its a lot easier to find the odd nut-jobs that make the news like this. Here in Iowa, its much more unlikely to have as many nut-jobs, get caught by the media, and have the rest of the country really care.

Dale - switch that to 39 pages and Suzy just to one-up TO.

But apparently they are really obnoxious! Did you ever see that episode of Family guy when the New York fans all move out to the suburbs?

I hate New York teams and the only thing I feel when I see one is disdain there probobly hasen't been one year where not one team of any sport in New York hasen't won a championship title. New York has 2 teams in every major sport (MLB, NFL, NBA (counting New Jersey), NHL) and any fan of any New York team is horrible and I know I have to justify what I just said so here it is: 1. If you watch the Red Sox and Yankees play a lot you know that a home New York games always causes trouble like that one time S.W.A.T had to protect the field in one of the playoff games 2. If a New York Player loses a game for the whole team there has to be security guards to make sure the player dosen't get hurt and/or killed 3. And the media is horrible do deal with more than any other city.
