Sounds like an interesting summer for Mavericks point guards.

Nash's desire to test free agency by opting out of his contract on June 30 is a forgone conclusion. Nash has stated his preference to remain with the Mavs, and though negotiations may be sticky -- he hopes to be paid at a level commensurate with the league's top point guards -- the organization has not shown signs of wanting to part with the two-time All-Star.

Nash is earning $5.75 million this season, sixth highest on the team.

"When my time comes, I'm sure I'll be compensated," Nash said earlier this season. "I'm not going to worry about it."</div>

I heard a statement from Nash's agent last season, talking about how Nash wanted to be paid like the elite point guard he is. If that's the case I'm assuming he's wanting at least 10 million per season. Who knows if Dallas is willing to put forth that kind of money when they have Daniels and Best to fall back on. Resigning Nash to that big money contract would easily move Dallas into that second slot in the league's highest team salary.

However I did hear some rumors about Nash being interested in playing for Toronto, anyone hear anything similar?

I agree that he should get paid more money but the mavericks sre already payin for a lot of super stars. Dirk, Walker , Finley , and Jamison. Dallas doen't have enough money to pay Nash. Unless they get rid of some players. Which i hope they don't!!!!

If Nash were to leave I think Cuban would keep Daniels at the PG, but I think nash is going to stay.

NAsh will stay, Danielsa will back him up, and best will either be traded or will be a backup for finley.

Travis Best is a free agent this summer, It's highly unlikely Dallas even attempts to resign him. Their payroll is going to be strapped next season to say the least. They'll be well over 90 million next season which will rank them 2nd in the league behind only New York's near 100 million dollar payroll.
