Just starting this thread to see if anyone knows of professional sports players who a good at playing basketball. I seen on the news today that Terrell Owens was in a charity game and they said he tore the competition up. The one highlight had him crossing this one guy up driving to the middle of the lane and skying in for a tomahawk jam from about 2 feet inside the foul line. I swear his head was above the rim. I also remember Randy Moss playing in HS on Jason Wlliam's team, I seen clips of him playing and he has some major game as well.

If I remember correctly, the Kansas City Cheif's own Tony Gonzalez played college basketball at the University of California. He was on the Heat's summer league roster for the 02-03 season.

Donavan Mcnabb said he was thinking about going to the NBA with his good friend Antoine Walker.

I don't know if anyone on this board remembers very well the time when Jordan attempted to play baseball. He was very competitive and had a lot of drive in him as always, but he was down right horrible at the game compared to his teammates. After seeing his failure, Randy Johnson (Diamondbacks Pitcher for those of you who are bball-only [IMG]) came out and said that he'd play Jordan in a game of 1-on-1 if Jordan could hit one of his fast-balls. Although this never happened, I thought it was pretty funny. Randy Johnson is pretty tall (6-5 or 6-6ish I believe) and grew up playing basketball as well. I think he could have made a minor league basketball team with ease.

Most athletes could be playing any sport if they focussed on it. It's all about what the players play as kids. I'm sure most of the athletes in the NFL are conditioned well enough to play in the NBA.

Yeah your right Peppers was a sick baller. I kinda reminded me of a Ben Wallace type of player - Attitude, Hops, Rebounding, Blocking, and a lil jumper too. He would have NBA lottery if he would of went into it.

Also Master P I thought really wasn't NBA material but I heard Silk the Shocker had big time potential. He is like 6'7 - 6'8.

I think Randy Johnson is seriously like almost 6'11 - 7'0, I'm gonna check it out.

Jordan sucked at baseball. His average was below .200 playing for a double A team, which is pretty mediocre. I think that that hurt his ego a bit so he went back to dominating basketball.

That's true..Jordan was never that good of a player, but at least he had the courage to try and play and he realized that he shouldn't have ever quit his day job anyways :P

Kenny Lofton played some college hoops. But it's good that he stuck with baseball instead, he wouldn't have amounted to anything in the NBA.

think about it. Jordan didn't "suck",sure he wasn't Bonds but he didn't suck especially if you look at the particulars. Hadn't played baseball at all for 20+ years and yet steps onto a professional baseball team and is able to hit about .200. That alone says something for the type of athlete he is and the dedication he had to the game to try and play the sport.

I agree. Just because he hit below .200 against professional pitchers doesn't mean he sucks at baseball. I can guarantee that none of us can even get a RBI if we play little league baseball. [IMG]

I don't get it, why did they sign him, if he was a disaster?

Ok, please off of the MJ/Baseball subject. I was going to say that McNabb was the kinda role player type for 'Cuse. He came in and bumped the big fellas around. He wasn't a big scorer but he did all the little things that coaches love, for example he hustled, scrapped for boards, got on the floor, hard fouls, listened to coaches, etc.

media attention, the Barons made a ton of money off him from tickets, souvenirs, etc.

Double A baseball is not really "professional" though. Yes, they get paid but it's like $40 a game or something. AA is pretty far from Major League Level baseball.

Nah...I used to play little league baseball, I was alright, nothing spectacular but I pretty much got at least a hit every game.
