    From ESPN:

Holy crap! Of all the things that caused the owners to cancel the whole 2004-05 NHL season, setting contract limits was not one of them? He's a 27 year old Wing.

Wasn't there another NHL player who signed an incredibly long contract recently?

Yeah, Rick Dipeitro signed a 15 year, 67.5 million dollar deal back in 2002. And the year before that, Alexei Yashin signed a 10 year one for 87.5 million.

Maybe he is sooo good that in 15 years people that aren't mentally deranged will watch hockey. It is a win in that case. Otherwise, who cares?

I wonder if there aren't plenty of escapes in the deal.
