And while it would be way too early to start comparing Lowe to one of Oregon's all-time greats at the position, the former Jesuit High star may be on his way. "We'd be good with that," UO offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich said of the comparison. "He's a dynamic guy," Helfrich added of Lowe. "He's a physical blocker, he's a physical runner, he's got really strong, confident hands. He gets it. He understands our system and where he's supposed to be and when he's supposed to be there. At the same time, he just hasn't played much, so I think that whole combination will do nothing but polish and improve." Lowe made his first start in Oregon's season opener against Arkansas State and had the first four catches of his career. He added one reception against Fresno State, and he figures to play an even larger role against Tennessee Tech on Saturday with junior receiver Josh Huff likely sidelined this week with what is believed to be a minor knee injury. "Keanon's a guy, from a confidence standpoint, who needs to do it before he can do it (more)," Helfrich said. "Some guys can see it in their mind and just go out and go; he's a guy who needs to reassure himself, which is fine. But then those guys need to be great practice players, and he did that. I think just in the process of doing that over and over again, his role is going to do nothing but expand." Like any UO receiver, Lowe is evaluated as much by his presence as a perimeter blocker as he is a receiver. Helfrich said he's been "generally pleased" with the receivers overall. "(Lowe), Josh Huff, Rahsaan Vaughn and B.J. Kelley were guys we were really looking at to step up (in fall camp), along with the younger guys; we were really looking forward to seeing what they did," Helfrich said. ".... They've been very physical on the outside and those guys have done a really good job in the run game. You saw Will Murphy finishing that (51-yard touchdown) run by De'Anthony (Thomas) the other day, and Keanon and Josh Huff have been outstanding on the perimeter. "They're taking steps, and now we need consistent steps. We need a 14-yard route to be 14 yards and all that stuff that just comes with a little ratchet up of tempo in their minds."
