<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Ben Gordon took going back to the bench last week with class, but it's likely to be an issue hanging over the Bulls as he becomes eligible for an extension after next season. Gordon sees himself as a starter and is unlikely to settle for a reserve role. Players become especially concerned with minutes as their extension time nears. That's why Gordon's name often comes up in trade rumors. So here's two interesting situations: The Sonics and Chris Wilcox and the Bobcats' need for scoring. The Sonics are thrilled with Wilcox. Even when Nick Collision returns from injury, Wilcox probably will continue to start. The Bulls long have eyed Collision as the kind of rugged power forward they like, one who is smart and can step out and make a shot. A deal for Gordon? Meanwhile, Bobcats general manager and coach Bernie Bickerstaff is saying that with an abundance of big men, the team will look for a scorer with their No. 1 pick, which should be in the top five. Would they be interested in Gordon, a former No. 3 overall pick, giving the Bulls still another No. 1 to parlay into a big deal?</div> <div align="center"> Source</div> So essentially it sounds to me like a three team deal would go down in which Gordon would go to the Bobcats, reunited with Okafor. Meanwhile, the Bulls would receive Collision from the Sonics and a 1st round pick from the Bobcats. Not sure who the Sonics would get. That deal does not sound to bad to me. It would mean we have three lottery picks in our possession we could trade one, or two in order to get a superstar to Chicago, or we could just draft three great players . I?m not big on Collision the draft pick is what makes the deal for me.
i dont mind, i'm not a big gordon fan. hes too small and just shoots my mind, i'd rather trade him for a nice big man
He's the only one who can put up the big scores regularly. Deng occasionally has scores in the 20's, same with Hinrich and Duhon and Nocioni are capable of doing so.
I would not particularly like this trade, because i'm not ready to give up on Ben yet. But i could very well see Paxson do this trade. I can't shake the feeling that he knows he's going to have to choose between Deng and Gordon once they get to the point to resign them. (Hinrich will be resigned by then) and i think he will choose for Deng. So trading away Gordon, and drafting a big guard this year (Roy, Brewer or some other guy) seems like a realistic plan. But i can't help but wonder, what top big man could be realistically available for us, using 2 of our draft picks (and you just know that the NY pick will have to be included) and big contracts to match up the salaries? (for the record, i do not believe the Bosh rumours, even though i would absolutely love to have him here).
This is my thinking on this whole ordeal with all the Gordon rumors. I must say, I wouldn't mind shopping him, due to his being one dimensional. He can shoot, but does little else. He's the 2K version of Tony Delk. And undersized 2 who doesn't do much else. He will not take coming off the bench for the rest of his career. With that said, I wouldnt really dig this trade scenario however. I think if we let loose Ben, it's gotta be to draft a bigger guard. Like you said Noir, Roy would be a nice option. He'll do it all and doesnt have to be the man and take 15-20 shots, and will actually get boards assists and D up. And if need be, he could drop 20 at anytime. Depending on who comes out, I think, will depend on what we do with the picks. If Aldridge and Thomas come out, we keep it, if neither does, I can see us dumping it, because remember, we also own the Knicks pick next season, and next summer's FA crop is MUCH better than this season. If we could draft a big guard, and trade away Gordon and say that first pick for a resigned big man (Al Harrington) it will save us Ben's extension cap, get us a big guy who can play NOW, and we still get a lottery quality player. The closer we get into June/July, the clearer it should become what the Bulls should do.

Keep the two draft picks (especially if Thomas and Aldridge come out). That way, next year we'll have cap space and lots of trade ammo to get a top veteran big man if possible. It would be the patient route, and i'm not sure if the Bulls want to go that way with the last few years in mind. But it would be the best thing in the long run imo. Unless Paxson can get a top big man through a trade this year, while keeping Deng, Hinrich and at least one of our draft picks.
