I'm just going to put everything in here instead of the fight announcement thread...

Here is a basic rundown of the news and rumors:

-Condit and Dana White have agreed to a rematch and Condit was supposed to be in Vegas on Friday to sign the contract.

-After this news broke, Cesar Gracie tweeted that a rematch wouldn't happen nor would a fight with GSP happen this year.

-frontrowbrian (twitter) was the first the break the news of a rematch being in place and final negotiations to be hammered out on Friday broke news that Diaz had an issue with a pre-fight drug test. According to members of Sherdog, this user has been right and wrong in the past, but in my opinion, all signs point to him being right this time. He said that there is an issue with Nick's medical testing and that he failed a prefight test. He tested positive for marijuana.

-frb also said that it is up to Cesar Gracie, Nick Diaz, Dana White, and the NSAC to come out and comment on the situation and that he will not reveal his sources. He said that sources tell him Keith Kizer or w.e his name is is finishing the paperwork and will not speak on the issue today. He also said that Diaz won't be back in the octagon this year, but that his sources tell him the UFC WILL NOT cut him, he'll serve his 1 year suspension but is out of the title picture.

Another wild rumor is that Nick and Cesar are posturing for as much $$$ as possible seeing how the PPV was successful and that Nick does not want to fight in Vegas anymore because he feels the NSAC is out to get him.

Would Diaz stand a chance in an appeal given that he has a prescription for weed in California? BTW Cesar Gracie also says he thinks the judges in Nevada are biased against Nick.

Semi-related, but here are some funny ass Diaz/Diaz-related vids I found leading up to the fight:

Looks like his method failed him but lmao @ that whole story. Here's a vid of him doing nunchucks:

I don't think he'll be able to get out of it because of his pot card, but maybe a reduced suspension? I think he's due for a 1 year suspension because its his second offense in the state if this is true...

Meanwhile GSP said he would give up his belt if it meant getting to fight Diaz. What has gotten into you, Georges?

Re: The Nick Diaz thread (rumors/news regarding the rematch with Condit/failed drug t

Keizer confirmed that there was one failed drug test and that he will comment on it later today.

Has to be Nick. However, wouldn't it be something of it was Condit!?!? Cesar did say that neither
Condit/Diaz or Condit/GSP would happen this year...just something to brain fuck you..

There have been a few failed tests from Team Jackson fighters in the past but Condit seems like a straight arrow, right?

His last punishment was a 6 month ban. He could be facing longer for his second offense.

    See you in 2013, Nick.

A bit ridiculous that because he smokes pot, he's gonna be suspended? Do you get suspended in the NBA, NFL, or MLB if you get caught? At most, what? 1-2 games if anything? A fine? Fine the man and that's it. I wonder how his medical card comes into play here? Probably not valid in Nevada?

The punishment for having it in your system should be well known to Diaz at this point so he can hardly complain if he is suspended for a year or more, or if his license to fight in Nevada is revoked. Whether or not it should be banned, it is, so he has to be responsible enough not to use it when he has a fight coming up in several weeks, or find some kind of exemption everywhere he fights.

Probably the most disappointing thing about all this is that his fight with Condit wasn't all that entertaining.

Seems like it wasn't any secret that Diaz is a huuuuuge stoner. Also wouldn't be surprised if a lot of these guys smoke weed all the time. NBA players do it, NFL players do it. In what little experience I have in an MMA gym its not uncommon that certain people who trained there daily reeked of weed all the time. Some people are just capable of performing normally while high constantly and athletes in other sports seem to get by just fine. I'm sure MMA has its fair share of stoners.

I'm sure that the medical card doesn't apply in Nevada. I figure its no different than, say, a Japanese or Brazilian fighter saying "well this steroid is legal in my country". Its a banned substance to the NSAC.

NBA rules for marijuana No suspension for the first two violations, five games for the third & subsequent violations per Larry Coon.

In the MLB you're only tested for "drugs of abuse" on the basis of reasonable cause. There are no random drug tests that tests for "drugs of abuse". I would think that testing for "drugs of abuse" is pretty much non-existent in the MLB. You never hear as much about their players smoking weed as opposed to the NBA and NFL but I would assume its fairly prevalent. I've heard Tim Lincecum and Barry Zito are huge stoners from people who party with them in SF, Brian Wilson as well. Lincecum got caught with a bunch of weed maybe two seasons ago. Seems like its pretty much completely ignored.

Until the UFC has per-year salaries, which I doubt will ever happen, suspending and fining fighters is always going to be tricky. Much more difficult than the leagues have it.

DFW is deeply disappointed with Nick. No talks of cutting him. He's too big of a draw to cut, I think.
