The Omaha Nighthawks' inability to match their off-the-field success with on-the-field results ultimately cost coach Jeff Jagodzinski his job. United Football League Commissioner Michael Huyghue said as much in a statement Monday announcing Jagodzinski's dismissal. Nighthawks General Manager Rick Mueller reiterated in an interview with The World-Herald that the team's late-season skid led to the decision to seek a new coach. “I like Jeff, and I think he's a good coach,'' Mueller said. “But at the end of the day, this is a bottom-line business.'' Jagodzinski led Omaha to a 3-5 record in an inaugural season that saw the Nighthawks sell out their four home games at Rosenblatt Stadium. Omaha started 3-1 but lost its last four games to go from championship contender to finishing tied for last in the five-team league.
