Nike does good things for schools. It's good for the players to have the latest equipment, good for recruiting, good for the fans and good for the program. Just look at Oregon, Michigan State and Oklahoma State - a few "Nike Schools" who seem to have benefited lately. Two thoughts: 1. Maybe if this relationship develops, OSU fans will stop the "NikeU-Knight owns UO," nonsense. 2. I wish OSU would just do what is best for the players and fans and stop worrying so much about Oregon. This kind of attitude stinks: “There’s been a lot of interest from Oregon State, but also some trepidation about, ‘We don’t want to be just like Oregon.’ I’d like to allay some concerns about whether we are so Duck-centric we can’t do anything with them.” “Oregon State is struggling a little bit to understand that’s what we do. There’s a perception we are just like wild and crazy and doing weird stuff. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Things are carefully planned. We have programs around the country that are good examples of how it works.” “We’ve helped Oregon with a recruiting tool and a way to tell people what they’re all about,” he says. “We want to help find something apropos for Oregon State, too.” Hatfield and his Nike group intends to meet with De Carolis and Riley after Feb. 1 national letter-of-intent signing day. The Beavers can’t pass on this opportunity. They need to embrace Hatfield’s overture and run with it, before it’s gone.
Among other things, it's going to take awhile for me to get over the bra-style uniforms Nike gave us a few years back. For the time being, I'll keep buying non-Nike OSU gear. With time and counseling, I might get over it...but maybe not lol
