"We know our customers and we know sports fans love the Jazz," Comcast spokesman Ray Child said Wednesday.
And the Jazz organization loves the fact that a season brimming with playoff hopes will be available for all cable viewers to see from start to finish, unlike last year when a dispute between Fox Sports Net and Comcast temporarily threatened to black out 13 games, and actually did cost Comcast subscribers in rural Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana and Nevada the chance to see several early season games.
"It was an irritant last year," acknowledged Randy Rigby, Jazz senior vice president of sales and broadcasting.
"We're excited that Jazz fans will be able to get all of the games on Comcast, [satellite] dish and DirecTV, because we ended the season really strong last year, acquired [veteran guard] Derek Fisher, hopefully we'll have a healthy Carlos Boozer all year and added a couple of good draft picks," he added. "The market is excited."
As evidence, he noted that 90 percent of season-ticket holders renewed their packages, 2,000 new season-ticket passes were sold and advertising is selling well on Jazz-owned television and radio stations, as well as for space inside the Delta Center. </div>
