According to his agent, Chubby Wells, he will decide between Detroit and Cleveland later this week. This obviously means Pot is a definite starter (assuming he does re-sign as has been reported), but IMO also makes getting Reggie back a real necessity, so we don't lose that interior toughness that made us so good last season.

He would have been a perfect fit, in the end he may have just been using SEA as a bargaining chip in attempts to at least get DET to up the # of years they were willing to give. If this was the case though, you would think we would still be in the media stories surrounding him and we would be mentioned, but I wonder if mgmt gave him a deadline in which to decide and DD wanted to wait to see what Finley was doing - mgmt didn't want to wait. Wonder if this has an impact on the willingness to match Damien???
Getting Dale Davis would have been nice but overall I think it would have ruled out getting Reggie Evans back and I didnt care for that idea. Evans is younger and also I think will be more understanding of lower minutes then Dale Davis. With Davis, Potapenko, Swift, and Fortson all vying for minutes at center it would be hard to explain to them Collison playing center at the end of games (something I expect).
I never expected Davis to consider the Sonics, anyway, so this isn't a big blow. Just tell Reggie to start bulking up so he can play center. There's no reason he couldn't.
http://www.detnews.com/2005/pistons/0508/22/01-288788.htm now its more or less official. No Dale on the Supes... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Veteran center Dale Davis and the Pistons agreed in principle on a two-year contract Monday afternoon. Davis' agent, Chubby Wells, said the Pistons were tired of waiting for forward Michael Finley to make up his mind and decided to move on. "Dale's really excited about the Pistons and we're glad to get something done," Wells said. "It's a good fit for both sides." Finley still hasn't made up his mind, debating between the Heat, Suns, and Pistons. The offer to Davis takes the Pistons out of the running for Finley, as they do not have any more open roster slots. </div>
Good points from everyone all around. My only misgivings about not getting Davis was that without *gulp* Jerome James we're missing some length in the frontline for those occasions where some big dude is going off on us - guys like Amare, Yao and Timmy. Vitaly and Nick are good at bodying up and forcing guys out of position. But they can't do much once a guy catches the ball in the post. JJ at least could stand there with his hands up and cause a distraction, even if his man is standing under the basket.

With the exception of Shaq, he is able to keep the big men off the block. If they get position however, it is all over. Nick gets by off just being smart. Danny is crafty. Between strength, smarts and crafty, the Sonics will do OK against most of the league, but will go back to suffering in the paint on defense. Amare will eat our front line alive. The Sonics have nothing to combat his athleticism, speed and power. Of course, the same could be said of most of the league.
