<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">LeBron James recently received a letter from consumer advocate and former presidential candidate Ralph Nader asking him to use his relationship with Nike to persuade the company to improve working conditions for those who make its merchandise. James said he has not responded to Nader. "Nike is a great company and they'll respond if need be," he said. Asked whether he'd endorse $15 sneakers like Stephon Marbury of the Knicks and Ben Wallace of the Chicago Bulls, James said, "I don't think so. With me being with Nike, we hold our standards high. We put a great job of putting out great merchandise and shoes, and it comes at a price that is pretty high, but at the same time, you're getting great quality for it." Still, he complimented Marbury and Wallace. "At times families can't afford $120 shoes," he said. "You get an opportunity to play basketball with shoes you can afford; it's smart on their part." </div> Source
My respect level for LeBron reduced significantly with his comments about potential gay teammates, and this knocks it down yet another notch. To be fair, if Michael Jordan was asked the same questions regarding Nike, he wouldn't have had a better answer.
LeBron's ego has really gotten to him. I kind of like watching him fade out of the limelight, of course...he still gets a ridiculous amount of coverage, it's not as much though. I also like that people are realizing he is human and that his game has regressed from last year. As for the comments, Chutney said it best. Tool.
