I mean really wtf? The Lakers baffle me sometimes. Its one thing to have a cold shooting night or play a team that is unconscious on offense but losses like this are really unacceptable. Why do the Lakers sometimes choose to completely avoid what works? We had barely any passing on offense. No passing it into the post and having kobe/LO/Ariza slashing to the basket. No kicking it inside only to dish it out for wide open 3's. While I dont like it, I can somewhat understand the lack of defense when you think you are playing a crappy team but the offensive game plan should never change. Either you play our offense or you dont regardless if you are hitting your shots that night. Our overall offensive game plan should never change, just adjust to who has the biggest mismatch against them besides Kobe. Last night we were a bunch of chuckers with a 2005 Kobe towards the end of the game (trying to take over to no avail) There was really no excuse to lose last night. We had a day off, they didnt have Kevin Martin AND they showed the meant business from the get go. Usually our losses to crappy teams is when all of a sudden they bombard us towards the end of games when we have let our guard down...This game was a battle from the beginning and the Lakers didnt man up. Oh yeah...and the honeymoon with defense stopped about 2 weeks ago end rant
The backcourt of this team frustrates the fuck out of me. I love Kobe, but besides the Dallas game, he hasn't impressed me at all this year. Obviously we had a lot of blowouts, but he continues to take questionable shots instead of running the offense. There have been multiple times this year where I've been clamoring for him to slow down his pace, run the offense, or drive to the hoop, instead, he just settles for the jumpshot 3 seconds into the possession and bricks... Same with Fisher, his play this year has been frustrating as hell. This year, even more so, he seems to think he's a superstar and continues to launch up shots with defenders glued onto him. Seriously. You're a veteran point guard, run the offense and get everyone going. I hate that we have Gasol and Bynum in the paint, who have been playing terrific basketball this year only get like one or two touches every five minutes. Give the ball to the goddamn bigs. It's not like we have Kwame and Lamar, we have an allstar caliber player, and a future allstar. Give them more touches and run the offense through THEM. Also, the besides Ariza and Bynum, the only other player that I have no complaints about this year is Gasol. He has been brilliant. He plays smart, he knows his role, he stays within the offense, and he comes hard every single game. Just wish everyone else could play like him.
Amen. Fishers year long brain fart is aiding to them getting less touches. Big guys are dependent on the guards to give them the ball. Neither of our bigs are black holes on offense either, both will pass it outside if you are in good position for a shot
Since we are ragging on the guards for now, I'd like to add that both Sasha and Jordan have declined since last year. Sasha isn't doing anything out there and Jordan has looked to score more than he did last year, and failing at it. Jordan as a PG, like you guys said, needs to run the offense and feed the big men, not pass it around to other guards on the outside, or drive in the lane to miss a shot. And Sasha needs to step up his D and start making his shots.
