If Baron Davis is looking for a name for his team book club, I'd like to suggest "No Warrior Left Behind."

Whatever he calls it, Davis better put his scheme into operation pronto. The Warriors lost their season opener to Utah by 21 points Tuesday. Davis believes his book club will make the Warriors stronger, tougher and more cohesive, and they're going to need every tool they can get their hands on.

Davis already has given books to his fellow captains, Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes. After Wednesday's practice, Davis headed to the store to buy books for the rest of the guys.

    Warriors' Book Club? It's on.

"I'm just tryin' to strengthen our minds, get us strong," Davis said Wednesday. "This is gonna be a tough year for us."

Davis picked up the book vibe from former teammate Adonal Foyle, an intellectual fellow who encouraged his teammates to read. Foyle led his own monthly book club, although none of the Warriors was a member.

Davis joined a book club in Los Angeles, where he lives in the offseason. On a recent road trip, after dining with several teammates, he sauntered into a bookstore and was inspired to buy books for a few of the guys. His selection was "The 17 Indisputable Laws of Teamwork," by John Maxwell.

"This is their (Jackson's and Barnes') first time being captains," Davis said, "so I thought I'd get 'em some leadership books, the type of books that have helped me."

Davis decided to make it a team-wide thing. He plans to divide the Warriors into three groups and give each group a different Maxwell book, then mix and match.

"Everybody has leadership qualities in themselves," Davis said. "Your team is only as strong as the weakest link; we want everybody to be of strong mind and strong will. I think reading, especially books like these, strengthens your mind, gives you more confidence when you're out there on the court."

    lol very funny capawfan.

I really do not want anything is related to Adonal Foyle on this team. But I guess this may not be a bad thing. Both Baron and Barnes got educated at UCLA so they probably have picked up a few books. I do not know about Jackson though, who I think was drafted out of high school. But whatever works for them. Nelson will get their bodies ready. Maybe these books will get their minds ready.
