While I would LOVE to see Anthony Davis team with Dame, Nurkic, Layman and whatever is left, the likelihood of that actually coming to fruition seems remote at best. Davis wants to go to a big market contender Blazer GM seems umbilically tied to his players Portland ownership flux situation LeBron's shared agent with Davis But there are other players available via the Pelicans fire sale that would seem to be of interest. Portland should be able to get one of these without giving up any of the core in return. To all the couch GM's, who is the best fit and what would it take to get them?
I think he might almost be the perfect 2nd guard for us. He's not shooting very well from '3' this season but his career numbers are better and defensively, he would really help out our backcourt.
Mirotic. Give them Meyers, Stauskas or Baldwin and our pick. Mirotic can slide into the second unit and be the primary scorer, and he also profiles well next to Nurk. Perfect fit.
I think Mirotic fits very well here (as does Holliday but 2x the salary) but have a fascination with Randle. I liked him when he was on the Lakers and he is putting up almost 20/10 while shooting .544 from the field. He also gets to the FT line 6+ times per game. He is a poor 3-pt shooter but has improved significantly from last season. He seems to be a mismatch almost every time he takes the court. What is his defense like for anyone who has watched him play much in N.O.?
I can't understand why the Pelicans would part with Holiday. They have him locked up, and he's playing at an all-star level. Whenever they deal Davis, he'll probably take on an even bigger role. I don't see any reason why he can't be every bit the player Oladipo is.
His defense is absolutely non-existent. He's one of the worst big man defenders in the league. That is why he didn't garner much interest in free agency despite the offense.
I think it depends on what the return for AD is. If they get a guy like CJ it might be better to trade Jrue for a wing or a center to balance out the roster, hence my suggestion to trade him for Drummond. However if they don't get a lead guard back they will probably keep him.
To be fair, I did not see Holiday's name in the list of everyone else that was made available. Just included him because I didn't want him to feel left out.
Bad and would be hard to hide in Portland, but I still like him. Mirotic isn’t much on that end either but he’s much better team defender than Randle.
None of them would make the Blazers competitive with the top teams in the NBA. I’ll say Randle though as I like his style. Holiday is good too.
and one of the reasons I think Pelicans would be more interested in Nurkic as he just signed a reasonable contract and they need a young big to replace Davis. The Pelicans would probably start out asking for Nurkic and McCollum. Pels would have to add filler.
You also need to consider potential as Mirotic has already pretty much peaked while Randall is still young and developing. There is 4 years difference in age so where will Randle be in 4 more years?
Pelican fans say he refuses to play defense and that hes awful on that end. Combined with the fact that we wouldnt be able to resign him, I have little to no interest in him.
Just waiting for our Jazz game to be finished to complete the trade and have 5 days to complete physicals and go through a team practice of executing the intricacies that are 'the weave'.
