Northwestern coach Bill Carmody has signed a contract extension for an undisclosed amount of years, a Northwestern spokesperson said Monday.

Carmody is in 11th season as the Wildcats coach. He has compiled a 150-167 overall record and 52-118 mark in the Big Ten. Northwestern made a school-record second consecutive NIT appearance last season. The Wildcats have yet to reach the NCAA tournament in their program's history.

Northwestern had three winning seasons between 1969 and Carmody's arrival in 2000. The Wildcats have had three since then and are shooting for their fourth one this season.

Northwestern's 2011 NCAA tournament hopes rest on its Big Ten performance. The Wildcats defeated Indiana on Sunday for their first conference victory and are 1-3 in the Big Ten overall this season.
