Not much hope for the season at this point

Honestly, I thought over the last 10 games we would see some hope. However, with Staal now out, Brassard lost, J. Moore, Girardi and MDZ looking like rookies, it doesn't look very good. Best case scenario is there is a team out there that truly believes Cam can be a starting goalie and is willing to pay a good amount for him.

Like I said earlier today, to me we should be making moves with an eye towards next season. Not punting on this season moves yet, but an eye on next season mainly. If MDZ won't be re-signed, deal him. Same with Girardi. The team will have a chance for a minor re-build with all the FA's we have this summer, so we should be focusing on next season with moves right now, while not just punting on this season.

I see no reason why we can't be a great team next season considering our base, the couple of kids we have close, and the space we have this summer to finish off the team correctly this time.

50 or so games to play, and you guys are talking about next year. No they aren't playing well, but that doesn't mean they won't. Sather makes a trade or two, and you never know ...

I am not giving up on this season at all. Like I said I would NOT be punting on this season, but I would be making moves with an eye on next season as well. What that means is I would not make a deal just to try and improve a little this season if it hurts us next season. No quick fix just for the moment. That is my point.

If you want to think I am saying something bigger than that, or take what I am saying to mean something more then what I just wrote, that is your call.

It's called common sense. The team suddenly has a huge amount of holes in it because Staal and Girardi have lost it due to age or injury, Brassard has turned into a moron and Cally no longer wants to play like he always has. Combine that with 4 bad role player signings by Sather and you have a disaster that won't get better this season.

You also need to look at what you just wrote jam. Sather makes a trade or two. You are already out of the water since Sather doesn't actually do anything. So what you just said is a longshot to happen with Sather on a boat in Palm Springs...:).

But what dump is saying is also accurate. Sometimes you need to be honest. This team is not a SC team this season...just isn't. Again, no shot you punt this early like I said, but you have to be real. No quick fix moves to get us from a 7-10 seed to a 6-8 seed. We need to be smart.

To me this summer is a great opportunity for us that doesn't come around often. We have a solid base, but now we also will have a decent amount of cap space to add the fringe core players this team lacks badly. It is a chance to make up for the many terrible signings by Sather as dump points out. With Richards gone, and the other FA's we have this summer, we have a great chance for a miny re-build, and this time we have to hope Sather does it right and surrounds our solid core with the right kids and the right FA signings.

    We'll see...

Chuck, I know you guys aren't giving up on the season, it's frustration, anger, etc, etc, etc. It's like Dump said, it is common sense and I understand exactly where you guys are coming from. I just don't want to look at it like that. There is a long way to go, and I want to believe they have something in them to at least get to another level. battling for a 7 or 8 seed is not good enough anymore. Believe me, when I watch this team play, I see the same exact garbage you guys do, and it's not fun. That being said, I still choose to believe ...

You can believe all you want jam. You can believe what you want jam. That is your right. But reality is reality man. And outside of one season, this is what we have been YEAR AFTER YEAR under Sather. That's reality. But believe whatever you want to man. Your right...:).

What we are seeing tonight is a HUGE pile of shit. No need to mince words. That's reality. 9 game homestand 7-2...yeah right...LOL. Maybe 2-7 considering we are 0-2 now.

Team stinks Jam. It easily could be 6-0 tonight. Can they turn it around? Sure but there are too many guys who either don't care or cant play this year.

Also I know he has been hurt for half the year but Nash doesn't get a pass either. We traded a lot to get him, he was great in the regular season last year was horrible in the playoffs and he is not a difference maker on the ice. That cannot happen when you trade all your depth and he has a $7.6m cap hit

I'm watching the winter meetings instead on the baseball network. It's so much better.

wouldnt hurt to have a guy that could spark the bench with a scrap or a big hit. No one like that on this team

Dis, until this team gets a player or two on defense who can score and actually play defense, then their is not much hope for any offense. They need players on the defensive side that can actually create, with a shot from the point. Getting more offense, with this stupid defense will not result in more scoring, just more frustration. You would think that AV would be in Sathers ear letting him know what type of player he's looking for.

The skill of getting shots through to the net is completely lost on these buffoons. It's almost as if they aim for other teams players so they can hit them and then they get prizes in the lockerroom after.

Do you really think he should have to be in Sather's ear for that? Once again this says it all. AV has been here a few months. Sather has been here 15 years. Yet you say AV should be in Sather's ear telling him what we need. Tells us, ONCE AGAIN, how useless Sather is. My lord the guy is a joke.

The team cannot shoot. It has been that way for years though sadly. Even Nash, as great as he is, always shoots a few feet off the ice. It is very rare that we see someone rip it upstairs with a rocket shot. Frustrating in that you would think NHL players can do that, but maybe not.

They just fire in the general direction of 8th ave. If it hits something, leg, pad, face, crowd, all the better.
