Now A Matter Of When Francis Will Be Dealt16th February, 2006 - 3:20 pmChris Sheridan/ESPN Insider - Chris Sheridan of ESPN is reporting that it is no longer a matter of whether Steve Francis is dealt, but whe. New York and Denver are the leading candidates as of now, but Minnesota is trying to engineer a three-team deal that would put Francis alongside Kevin Garnett and Ricky Davis.A long-shot possibility is Francis returning to Houston. Wednesday night's Orlando-Detroit trade removed the possibility of Kelvin Cato going to New York in a Francis trade, but the Knicks can still do a Hardaway-Francis deal by removing Jamal Crawford from the equation and substituting Trevor Ariza and rookies David Lee and/or Nate Robinson.http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/391..._will_be_dealt/
My god NBA teams are stupid...they will do anything to get the headline move and then later they will regret it. :no1:
No surprise Isaiah is brought up in this stupid idea of getting Francis. A Marbury and Francis backcourt will never work. They both are very poor defenders and they don't compliment each other.
Isiah Thomas is just attracted to whatever "big name" is available on the market, and he later regrets it, and tries to get rid of them. He is one of the worst GM's in the league, and it's a surprise that he hasn't been fired already, in my opinion.
Francis trade is official, dealt to NY for Ariza and Penny Hardaway's expiring contract.ESPN.com: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2339941Great deal for Orlando, if you ask me, a good young player in Ariza who with some playing time can become a nice, solid player, and loads of capspace with Cato and Francis gone. In 2007, when all the big name free agents hit the market, Orlando will have the most cap space of all the teams in the league now and be able to pair up a superstar with Howard and Nelson to form a great, young nucleus. Excellent move by Orlando, opens up tons of options for the future..
I actually don't think this is too bad of a trade for the Knicks. They do have too many high-priced guards and forwards but a Francis/Marbury duo would be pretty good. And it's nice for the Knicks to get rid of Penny the has-been.
Losing Hardaway wasn't a good thing. Why do you think the Magic wanted him? His contract expires after this season, and the Knicks need all the cap room they can get, but they might as well give up now, they're what about $60 mill over the cap with a $125 payroll. It's pretty sad when you have the highest payroll, yet your only two games ahead of the team with the lowest payroll. Anyways, this was a great deal for Orlando. They get more young talent in Ariza, and should have a ton of cap room next season with the expiring contract of Hardaway and unloading Francis. They have a very bright future.
Am I the only one who sees the amount of selfishness between their now probable backcourt of Marbz, Francis, and Crawford? No one is going to pass the ball between these three, no one. I really don't see any of these guys changing
