Now that Pritchard's gone does anyone honestly think there will be a "real" trade?

Pritchard is the guy who made everything happen.

Every other person involved in the Blazers will be too chicken (like most GM's) to do anything. Everyone will be too afraid they will make a mistake and be fired.

As a result, the Marcus Camby trade will end up being the last good trade this club makes for the next 3 seasons.

There WILL NOT be a better trade over the next three years better than the Camby trade.

It's a waste of time to even read about "trade rumors" or Free Agent signings because nothing will happen.

I think there will be more trades, and still decent drafting. And I'd be shocked if we didn't see something most of us would call a "consolidation" within the next two months

So because KP was mediocre at making trades, his replacement will be worse. Great logic.

Of course, it's not like there's anything left to do in order to put a Championship team together. At least not in the next 3 seasons.

Players just need to play, such as Oden, Batum, Bayless and Camby. If those 4 players are healthy, along with Roy, Miller (who doesn't miss games) and Aldridge, there's no reason to believe they can't win 54 games each of the next two seasons. Winning a playoff series is another matter. I'm not sure if Nate can take them there.

Wow. Try a little common sense before typing. Marcus Camby was a trading coup. We got ourselves a great Center who's willing to play alongside of Oden. It was "The Perfect Trade" for the Blazers.

Also, when you're so damn smart that you can trade for a draft spot in order to take the "Great Batum", you don't have to make trades except to fix a few small holes.

He got rid of two of the worst players on the team in Blake (who sucked big-time as a point guard) and Outlaw (who sucked big-time defensively, and was always lost on Offense). Just to get someone to take Blake and Outlaw was pure genius. To get in return a great Center was a coup.

Collison, the last best hope for the off-season IMO. No big time FA will come here except maybe Steve Nash. Even if we got Nash we should shoot for Collison as understudy.

    Let us hope you're right.

But, again, to be fair to the new regime, I can't think of anything this team needs right now. I can't see a reason to make a trade. It's hard to find players that mix well with Roy.

Any person who thinks that a whole organization depends on one guy is quite mistaken. I have met several people in my life that thought they were more important than the business they were working for. They were all sadly mistaken when given their walking papers.

I don't think anyone can talk you off that ledge.

Just jump. Get it over with.

Re: Now that Pritchard's gone does anyone honestly think there will be a "real" trade

This is a funny thread. When did Mixum change is moniker?

Seriously, KP wasn't all that. He just got all the credit (due or undue). He was an active trader on draft day most years and the Camby trade was a good one for us. Others not so much. For all the trading he did we only got Batum out of it. Most of our roster is currently overrated IMO.

For us to make it past the first round and challenge for a championship - we need someone to make some deals and get them done. We aren't there yet.

When was the last "real" trade that KP made in the offseason?

Re: Now that Pritchard's gone does anyone honestly think there will be a "real" trade

Honestly I never thought there would be a real big trade this off season with or without KP on board.

Nothing has happened to change my mind.

After hearing all about RLEC, talk about Miller and Joel's expiring contracts being valuable rings pretty hollow.

    If something happens, then awesome.

I just don't think Portland has the pieces to make a trade of any real consequence.

So let me get this straight, KP gone means trades become less likely? Fuck, that would tough to accomplish.

Honestly, I'm not sure the Blazers even had a GM the last 4 years.

And with enough floated narratives, I'm sure the history will eventually reflect that. Pritchard's very existence shall be written right out of the books. Even his parents will forget that he existed. In fact, they'll remember Steve Patterson as their child. ;)

So now the "real" trade must fall with in the offseason? Why?

The in season and draft day trades aren't real deals?

I doubt there will be another trade. Hope so, but doubt it. It's not because of KP's absence, though...

There's a chance we could use our MLE, of course. That wouldn't suck.

Cause it's the off season now. The Blazers are supposedly trying to be active, so I assumed the OP meant now. But if it makes you feel better, besides Camby, when was the last real trade KP made at all?

Following the plague of injuries last year it's been my best guess that they will more or less let the roster stand pat to see what they already have. I happen to think they're pretty deep talented and balanced. With KP having been shown the door I think this is even more likely as the new GM will want to evaluate whats what before turning things over. If they're to make a deal this year I suspect it will be at the mid-season trade deadline involving Joel who should be rounding into shape about then.

Here's to Brandon Greg Nic & Rudy healing up and being 100% to start the season

    Fucking brilliant.

    :shakeshead:

To answer the 2nd part of your question, I'm from the camp of the trades you don't make are just as important (if not more so) that the ones you do. I don't demand the team I support make a trade between the months of July and October because I'm bored.

I don't give a fuck when they happen as long as we come out the better.

Limiting it to certain months is absurd.
