I don't have a link, but I heard that the Daily Star has reported Newcastle United FC are interested in signing VfB Stuttgart striker and German International Mario Gomez for an undisclosed fee. This may not happen as Stuttgart are well underway in repairing their broken team just a season after winning the Bundesliga title. Funny thing though is that in FIFA 08's manager mode I was using NUFC and Gomez was one of my first signings and ended up being the most important one in the long run. They really need him.
