Keys To The Game

    Denver Nuggets

Frontcourt Advantage The Nuggets biggest strength heading into this game, is their frontcourt players. They're frontcourt players (Camby, Martin and Anthony) will most likely be the benefactor for this team. While they may be the better frontcourt they cannot underestimate the 76ers frontcourt because they have been performing great as of late, but if the Nuggets play their cards right, they should be able to outplay the 76ers frontcourt which would be tremendous for them.
Double Iverson Iverson is coming off a his season high (40 Points) and look for him to try and have an encore performance. Early into the Milwaukee Bucks game, you could tell right away that Iverson was looking to score. So for the Nuggets to prevent another 40 Point outburst from Iverson, they have to get at him early and don't let him get it going at all. The Nuggets has no players that will be able to keep up with Iverson quickness except maybe for Boykins but he's obviously too small. So that is why, Buckner and Miller are going to have to try their best to contain him, because neither Miller or Buckner can contain Iverson single handily.
Feed Anthony & Martin These two players are going to be the catalyst for Nuggests, simply because the 76ers has no answer for them. Carmelo Anthony has been getting to the offensive groove as of late, and Andre Iguodala should be able to do a decent job covering Anthony, however Anthony is very scrappy and aggressive and he is going to be able to make a living at the line but he may have to work for every shot on the perimeter because you can bet Iguodala will be all over him. Martin on the other hand is too just simply too explosive and athletic for the 76ers. Thomas is going to have a very hard time with him, Jackson is not going to be able to keep up with Jackson athleticism and Dalembert doesn?t have the physique to overcome Martin aggressiveness. So it doesn?t really matter what the 76ers throw at him because it?s most likely Martin will over come it.
Philadelphia 76ers

40 Point Encore? Despite both ball clubs averaging just about the same PPG, the Nuggets are the better offensive team. And with the fact of Anthony getting into the offensive groove plus that 76ers lacking perimeter defense the Nuggets may score 100+ tonight. So if the 76ers are going to counter that, and try to put up 100+ points themselves they are going to need yet another big night from Iverson. They must get Iverson into the offensive groove early on just like they did against the Bucks. Iverson is the type of players that needs to get his first 5 shots or so before he really gets into a rhythm. That being said the 76ers need to feed him early and let him warm-up thus he will be in his scoring mode throughout the night. While this doesn?t sound like a very hard task, the Nuggets are going to get at Iverson early, so Iverson teammates are going to have to step up and try making things easier for Iverson.
Perimeter Shots With the exception of Martin, the Nuggets from court players and even Nene coming off the bench doesn?t like stepping out in the perimeter to defend. So what the 76ers need to do is make them pay. Thomas, Jackson and probably Williamson(GTD) can all hit the perimeter shot, so if the Nuggets disrespect them and let the 76ers take those shots they must knock them down.
Points In The Paint The 76ers won most of their games, when they outscored their opponents in the paint. So that speaks for itself, and it aint the best kept secret on what the 76ers need to do to win. Obviously, they are going to have to attack the paint. While they been feeling the perimeter shooting as of late they cannot get too caught up in it, and at the same time they must also attack the paint.
Probable Outcome: (Not My Opinion) The Nuggets has been on a role lately, with the exception of their last loss to the Knicks. But that was just one loss, and quite frankly the way they?ve been playing has been great needless to say. On the other hand the 76ers snapped their 6 game losing streak and managed to pick up two wins. Now when they play at home they are a completely different team, and with the last two wins their confidence surely went up. So all in all this game is going to be a rollercoaster game, but it?s most likely the Nuggets run away with the game in the 4th quarter.

I just heard on comcast that Kenny Thomas will not be playing because of flu like symptons. Williamson will be steping into the starting lineup for him. I am looking forward to seeing rookie Andre Iguodala take on Carmelo, should be a great matchup, hopefully we can see Igyy stay out of foul trouble and contain Melo.

We matchup well against the Nuggets but I can really see us getting blown out in this one, with the Nuggets running away with it in the 2nd half. The big key for the Sixers to try and win this game is that is a second scorer going to show up. We can't win with bad offensive performances by everyone except Iverson. Maybe it will be Iggy this game or Jackson, maybe Dalembert, but we need somebody to step it up on the offsensive end...

Perhaps with KT having the flu this means more playing time for Skinner. I think this may be bad and good at the same time. This may cause JO to make another lineup change even when KT does return. Or put him back in the bench looking for playing time with Green.

I think this will be a close game at half time, but after half time I think we will come out slow and not get into the game until half way through the quarter falling behind and not being able to climb back into the game. It has happened many times with us for some reason a lot of times the team can not go back into attack mode after there half time break.

Though I do think we match up with the team at almost every position what will give the team problems is AI's turnovers that is what killed Orlando when they played the Nuggets and what will hurt us. The Nuggets though are a streaky team you never know which team will show up the one that blew out the Magic or lost to the Knicks.

A matchup we have to take advantage of is the shooting guard mathcup. Buckner is not the greatest player in the world if we could get Korver or Iggy who ever Buckner is guarding into a rythm early we may get more points from those players than usual. I think if we can get him caught up on picks every other play or so and keep hitting him with the Iggy inside and Korver outside combo we can wear him down early, and force a lot of help defense in the game whcih we can take advatage of if SD or Marc Jackson are not being guarded.

Is this Williamson's first start of the season? because I know Davis started 5 and I think that KT started the rest not sure though. JO's style of play is something w eneed to do because we really can not beat them in a half court set. i mean SD really does not have that big a rnage when shooting so the easier the shot the better, Corliss Williamson has a tendency to lsoe the ball when trying to get to the rim at times as well. So we will see. I think the Nuggets will win by 12, but hope we win by 6.

    Just as I predicted... [IMG]

Well so far Martin is getting the job done with ease. He has 16 poitns in the first quarter on 5-6 shooting. If this continues, Philly is going to be in a world of trouble, and to think Anthony hasn't even got it going yet. However, despite Martin brilliant play thus far the 76ers managed to keep up, and it's currently tied 27 a piece at the end of the first quarter.

Iverson, Jackson and Iguodala also managed to score 6 Points a piece in the first quarter.

Very nice win by the Sixers they came out and performed very well AI stepped up big time having a 30 point night aftr a 40 point night. He also had 8 assists which is very good considering he took 23 shots. It shows he is efficient when he is passing the ball in terms of finding the right open man.

I am very happy with SD double double 10 points 11 rebounds and 4 blocks and helped me out big time in fantasy bball. I hope he keeps it up Skinner had a good game on the offensive end nothing explosive, but showed he can perofrm when he is given minutes. The team did exactly the oppoest of what i thought would happen keeping it close to about the 3rd quarter they kept it close through out and took command in the fourth.

Iggy had a really good game on the offensive end of the court and like I siad took advantage of Buckner on that end of the court I think that really helped out our team. In the end there front court really matched up well with ours instead of them dominating. I am very proud of this win considering how hot the Nuggets where besides there lose to NY.

It was defiantly a needed win for Philly; this gives them the confidence that they can beat solid Western Conference teams.

Iverson seemed to have a brilliant game; he was two dimes away from notching his first career triple double, still a very solid game for him all around though. You also cannot forget the Sixers supporting cast, everybody seemed to pinch in some production, even Willie Green had a nice game with 17 points, and how about Sam D playing big for us again, how does 10 points 11 rebounds and 4 blocks sound!

These past few games the Sixers seem to be finding themselves and forming some chemistry, lets hope they keep this up.

Actually it would be Iverson's second career triple double, he had one against the Clippers some 2 or 3 years ago. I remember there was like 2 minutes left in the game and he was about to get his 10th rebound, triplel double, but then DC grabbed it instead and they were laughing about it at the end. Great game by the Sixers though, VERY soild game by Iverson, I say the most solild game in the season so far.

Hot Sauce, man...come on, you gotta have some respect, instead of making comments like those (actually, I'm still talking more about the one in the sig thread). Maybe it's fine with Erin, maybe not...but you don't know that.

And Erin, I really don't see how you get pictures that easily...but great pic, no doubt. Another to add to your collection [IMG]
