<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>George Karl said Wednesday that the Nuggets are "looking at picking up" a point guard for the playoffs. Candidates include Anthony Carter, Mateen Cleaves and Nuggets player development coach Rick Brunson, who called himself a long shot."Security and execution of practice," Karl said of needing another point for Denver, which has only Allen Iverson and Steve Blake.Bill Duffy and Danny Servick, agents for Carter and Cleaves, respectively, have had talks with Nuggets executive Mark Warkentien."I?m staying in shape and, hopefully, I?ll get a call," said Carter, who was in Denver?s camp last fall and is at his San Antonio home after playing in Italy."I?d love to play with (the Nuggets)," said Cleaves, with the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League after playing in Russia.</div>http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/456...an_point_guard/<span style="font-family:Arial">Anthony Carter would be a solid choice, he adds a nice defensive game to our perimeter. His offense isn't all that polished but he is a smart basketball player with above average defensive ability. I think he could be solid for 5-10 minutes per night. He played decent for us during the preseason, he looked pretty good.Mateen Cleaves wouldn't be a bad addition, his offensive game is much better than Anthony Carter's. He's a good passer who makes smart decisions with the ball, but he's a streaky shooter, and not much of a defensive player. He seems to be during well in D-League, he's obviously in good shape. One guy that hasn't been mentioned in the article is Alvin Williams. Sure, he's been injured and he may be a bit rusty but he's not going to be playing a ton of minutes. I could see him logging 5-10 minutes per night as well, that shouldn't be a problem. Williams has a solid offensive game, he's another smart player on the free agency list.Signing any one of these guys is fine with me, they could all be solid pickups.</span>
I was under the impression that there was a certain deadline a few weeks ago that stated that a signed free agent would be ineligible for the playoffs if they were signed past a certain date (that has passed). I heard about this during the time where there were talks about Scottie and Reggie coming back. But if what I heard is false, I think Anthony Carter would be the best choice, especially when you are talking about signing him for the playoffs. Why? Because in the playoffs you need team cohesiveness, and the chemistry could be better with Carter since he was with Denver for training camp.

I will always be a Sixers fan, but right now I am just as much a Nuggets fan cause AI always been my fav I started watching basketball years ago cause of AI. And Melo is my 4th fav player so I like Denver also and right now I just want AI to win a title. Sixers I just can't stand Billy King did they not trade to rebuild how you gonna go from 3rd worse to 10th worse? Like WTF they needed Oden/Durant/WrightARG

I believe the deadline was for players to be free agents or clear waivers. For example, if a player was released by a team after the deadline, they would not be eligible for the playoffs. If that is the case, then these two have been in the free agent pool, so they are eligible to be on a team's playoff roster. As for the Nuggets, I think both guys would be solid additions for them. All they would do anyway is be a back-up/insurance policy in case Iverson or Blake were to be injured, and help in practice.Alvin Williams is another solid choice Tony. I always loved him in Toronto, but wasn't he forced to retire because of a knee injury or something to that extent? If he's healthy, I think he could be a possibility since he and Iverson are really good friends... but I think Alvin Williams has moved on past basketball.
Mateen Cleaves He is a smart, has the most experence of the three guards, he's a better passer.. well carter is pretty good to, Cleaves is good at running offense once he learns the stystem even if he's not getting many mintues, he comes into the game and does what he needs to, he would be a good fit for denver because HE WILL BE.

Does not mean I am not a Sixers fan now cause that has not changed. But we just can't keep going like this we as Philly fans had it Billy King needs to go. AI has showen he can play with another star out there, and that it was not having stuff around him never having a clear #2 or good role players with that clear #2. AI deserves a title I will cheer for him until he retires. And with Melo being my 4th fav player it is not hard to cheer for Denver.I am still a Sixers fan though.

I don't see the big deal, you guys are making a situation out of nothing. If Carmelo got traded to another team, I would follow that team just as much as I would follow the Nuggets.

When he has to many turnovers in a game I say he needs to cut that sh*t down. And listen you f****** moron for the last time my fav team is still the Sixers. But I follow AI, and want him to win a title. And AI did not jump ships he was to loyal when he was treated like sh*t every year. And they showed no respect my sitting him while trying to trade him. They did not deserve any of the respect AI gave that team when every year they had him on the trade block pretty much, and never gave him anything to win with. And well you don't like Peirce then.
