BICKERING BERNIE: Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe planned to speak with NBA officials about a disparaging comment by Charlotte Bobcats general manager Bernie Bickerstaff.

Bickerstaff, Denver's former coach and general manager, told The Charlotte Observer he would not select Nuggets center Marcus Camby if he were made available in next June's expansion draft. Camby has a player option on his contract next season for $7.75 million.

"I don't know whether Camby being out on the floor would win more than two games for us," Bickerstaff said. "So it's a bad deal."

The Bobcats will begin play next season. The NBA frowns upon comments made by team officials about any player under contract with another team.

Asked about Bickerstaff's comment, Vandeweghe said: "I'm surprised. I'm going to talk to somebody about that. He shouldn't be (talking about Camby because) they're a team in the league." Camby was indifferent to Bickerstaff's opinion. "That's fine. I'm going to be here (in Denver), so it doesn't matter."

The Nuggets can just take that little comment and meditate on it, because every word of it is true. We are the smart people here.....
