Which team is better, A Healthy/Non-suspended Nuggets squad or A Health Rockets squad. So lineups are: PG- Rafer Alston PG- Allen Iverson SG- T-mac SG- J.R. Smith SF- Shane Battier SF- Carmelo Anthony PF- Chuck Hayes PF- Kenyon Martin C- Yao Ming C- Marcus Camby These two teams are very close in skill and talent however the Rockets dominate the defensive end while the Nuggets dominate the offensive end. Of course Yao Ming would be causing K-mart and Camby to double team him, but Chuck Hayes can be rushed to and stopped in case the ball gets to him while he's open, but don't expect that to happen every time, Yao would flourish in this matchup. Allen Iverson can not be stopped by Rafer Alston, thats a huge problem that the Rockets will have. Leaving Shane on Melo is good, force Melo to live near the perimetir and take a large amount of jumpers. The big matchup of the night would be J.R. Smith vs. T-Mac, sure T-mac used to be a great scorer but ever since his knee injury he just hasn't been nearly as good, while J.R. has really broken out this year and is now averaging nearly 17 PPG. That would be quite the fun matchup to watch. However the Nuggets in this game could go small at any time against this slow Rockets squad and make the Rockets run, make the pace of the game go fast. Nuggets a think are a bit better.
I'd take the Nuggets everyday on the week and twice on Sunday. They are just a faster team overal.. Yao Ming can only hurt you with so many points, there is no way he can dominate this game.
I'd take a healthy rockets team though I doubt they will stay healthy. Nuggets an advantage of staying healthy though Camby is injury prone. I like Houston's top 2 superstars better than the Nuggets. More well rounded. Yao can block and rebound well along with shooting a high percentage and you know how big Mcgrady can get in the playoffs. Dallas had no answer for him and he doesn't turn it over that much. Houston also has by far the better defense.
As said before, I take healthy rockets against Denver. Right now, there's no doubt I go with the Nuggets.
I would take the Nuggets. Carmelo and AI, especially AI, would dominate. Yao would be good but Camby is a very good defensive player and will give him a lot of trouble. I think this would be an awesome playoff series, a good 7-game series. I don't think it would happen but I'd take a full Nuggets team over the Rockets. Houston doesn't have the defensive players to guard the trio of AI, Smith and Carmelo.
Take Nuggets any time of the day, better overall team, now with addition of AI specially. Tmac has not been playing great, and Melo leading the scoring column....team has alot of potential.
I would take the Rockets. When Tmac is healthy he is better than both Melo and AI, and can score at will like hes been doing recently. In addition the Rockets have the best center in the league. Also they have a great defender in Battier, who can limit everyones production such as Melos.
Interesting topic, give me Rockets. I will not include KMart as he isn't going to be playing all year. Here's why I take Houston:-When T-Mac needs to, he can score. He is showing that right now. Since Yao is out he has put up 4 or 5 straight 30pt+ games, one 44pt game, and the team is 5-2. When he is right, he is definately better than Melo, and on same level as AI.-Nuggets are quicker, but with AI as PG, don't expect them to be quite as up and down as they were with Miller at PG. What the Rockets do best is make you play to their slowed down, halfcourt tempo, in which they would beat the Nuggets.-Rockets have better shooters, rebounders and defenders to compliment the stars. Battier, Alston, Head, Hayes, Mutombo, Howard, etc... are all fantastic role players. Outside of Melo/Camby/AI/Smith, the Nuggets are lacking a bit. Houston has the perfect role players and stars for the type of tempo they play at. -Camby is a great defender, but Yao has been unstoppable. Yao would dominate any matchup, and with T-Mac STILL demanding doube and triple teams, he will gets lots of one on one oppertunities. And if you double him, then you got all those great shooters open.So yeah, in a 7 games series, give me Rockets.

I like Miller as a PG, but that dude slowed them down clearly.

WOW

But this season Martin won't be back so not sure it would depend if Camby can do a solid job on Yao if so I still think Denver. But Camby would really have to work hard, and atleast slow down Yao cause you can't stop him fully I think.
I am a rockets fan but even if I wasnt I would still pick houston. houston has a much better bench and role players know how 2 step up. also we have never seen melo and ai 2gether so 4 now id stick wif the rox
Nuggets are beefier at the top of their lineup with Melo, AI, Camby, etc, but the Rockets have much better complimentary role players to fill out their lineup. It's hard for me to say who I'd choose now, but probably the Nuggets.
Give me the rockets. The nuggets have the firepower but the rockets are just a well built team right now. Houston is an amazing defensive team and when at full strength they can score with anyone. I think the uprising of luther head really pushed them over. Having that flexibility to move battier tmac and alston around because head can play the 1 or 2 really opens up the game. Also they have a great energy guy in Chuck Hayes who looks like he could be a great role player for them in the near future. But all this hindges on the health of tmac an yao if either one is out its obvious the nuggets are better.

There will be less ball movement with AI at the point, and with 2 amazing halfcourt players in Melo and AI they will play to their strengths. Don't get me wrong, they will still be a fast team, and will score just as much/more, but they won't run the Rockets off the court like the Suns would if they faced each other in a 7 game series. And Miller at 9APG slowed them down? Earl Boykins and his play slowed them down? Nope. Without those 2, this team is much better suited for a halfcourt game with occasional running and gunning. And don't make comparison by going through positions. Ultimately that has little to do with how they play as a team, the tempo they play at, etc... If you showed me the Rockets team on paper, player by player, I can tell you that individually most of them are not great defenders. But as a team and in the slowed down pace they play at, they have become the top defense in the league. You can't compare these teams position by position, only by watching them.

And yes Andre got 9 assists he is a good PG, but yes he did slow them down. Boykins no he is fast he did not slow them down Miller did though. I understand what your saying don't compare by positions I was just saying who I would take at each.

Yes, Andre was slowed, but he ran the break more and with him at points there was a lot more ball movement. That's fine, but you made it seem like you were using that to show why the Nuggets are a better team.
