<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Nuggets should be glad their phone bill doesn't count against the salary cap.The Nuggets are $3 million from the luxury tax threshold. But that hasn't prevented team officials from feverishly calling around, even to perceived top-dollar free agents.William Phillips, agent for Kings guard Bonzi Wells, has said the Nuggets continue to inquire about his client, who recently turned down a five- year, $36 million offer from Sacramento.Hawks forward Al Harrington said the Nuggets have talked with Arn Tellem, who officially will become his agent next week."To have an opportunity (with the Nuggets) is something I would embrace," said Harrington, also saying the Indiana Pacers "still have a chance" to work out a sign-and-trade for him. That is, if the Nuggets are willing to spend the money. Harrington, seeking a big deal, likely would have to be acquired in a sign-and-trade. That might not put the Nuggets in excess of the luxury tax this season, but it could in the future. The Nuggets would like to get Wells for one year for $3 million or less. But it could be a while before he considers that. The Nuggets also are in discussions with their free agent, forward Reggie Evans, who wants a deal starting about the midlevel exception of $5.2 million. Evans told the Pensacola News Journal he is considering the Nuggets, Cavaliers and Timberwolves. But Minnesota can offer no more than its $1.75 million exception, so it might have to look at a sign-and- trade. And Cleveland might be eyeing Evans to pressure its restricted free agent, forward Drew Gooden.</div>-RockyMountainNews.com
If the Nuggets could somehow acquire Al Harrington and Bonzi Wells than this team could be a championship title contender. They will need to see how Melo comes through in the playoffs this post season because in the series against the Clippers, he wasn't very good.
To be honest I don't really see them getting either, I still think when it comes down to it, Harrington will be a Pacer. Their the only team that can give Harrington the type of contract he's seeking and also allows Hawks to not have to take back any salary. Win-win situation. For Bonzi, he should have just took the highest offer by the Kings, now he's going to have to settle on a lower deal and stop playing this dumb waiting game.
They probably won't get either. . . Owner Kroenke has said that he would really not to like to pay the luxury tax as they are below the level right now.miaThey'll only get either of those two players if they can find a taker for Martin to ease the luxury tax burden. At one point the Hawks really wanted Martin as a FA, but I'd be surprised if they wanted that now, plus they can't take back a contract that is over 4 years. So a sign and trade with the Hawks seems unlikely. The Kings don't really need Bonzi right now and have basically said so. So I'm not sure what his options are. A few teams still have their MLE and he probably will end up having to sign for that somewhere, but probably not Denver.Hypothetically though, if they could get either, I think I'd take Harrington. Wells fits the SG role, but I think he and George Karl would fight daily. Harrington seems less stubborn. Not sure about positions though. Harrington would probably have to be willing to come off the bench.
Would you guys have liked Eddie House? I know he's a little streaky but he could have been a nice player for you for $1.5 million.
