Time to see how AI and 'Melo play. I would post more right now, but it is about to start. I will give my opinion on the game and 'Melo's play after the game. :dribble:
Jesus..the Nuggets look good..Blake looks great, AI is playing very well, Melo looks good, JR is on fire, Najera is playing well..38 points in the first quarter is awsome.
They are playing very well so far, but Carmelo seems like he's forcing it a little too much, but I attribute that to anxiousness moreso than anything else.
So, yeah, the "experiment" seems like a failure to me... I mean, all they did was dominate the fourth playing with each other, setting each other beautifully. I guess they can't play together, right? The scary thing is that this is their first time playing together all year... even in practice Karl didn't put them on the same team until after that Houston game (reportedly). Denver will be scary once they get it clicking.

Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony were clicking towards the end of the game and that's just showing what they can and will do in games to come. Blake played amazingly well dishing out 12 assists and Iverson got 23 points, 6 assists. Melo was two shy of beating Larry Hughes's record of most points scored coming back from a absency.Overall the Nuggets look great. Im enjoying watching them play.
You could tell 'Melo started off a little rusty at the beginning. He was forcing shots, but besides that 2nd quarter, we played a great game. AI and Blake looked like they had been Nuggets for years. Everybody was playing unselfish and making the extra pass. I loved watching this game, they are one of the, if not the, most exciting team to watch in the NBA.

LOL He does not think it was a failure.Iverson got 7 assists looks like Melo was the one who got 6 assists. But Yeah AI 9-16 23 points 6 shy from 20,000 that is just crazy for a guy who is not even really 6'0. He also had 7 assists, 2 steals, and 4 rebounds. He did have 6 turnovers, but I am sure the more they play together the more the turnovers for AI will end up going down.Melo was actually not really forcing shots not sure why some think so. He just did not make any shots he made dunks/lay-ups.28 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists first game back shooting 10-25 but it's his first game he will be fine shooting % wise also.Camby had 17 points, 17 boards, 3 blocks, 3 assists he was 6-11 shooting.Blake 12 assists only 1 turnover.JR Smith shooting 7-18 with 5 boards, and 19 points. He was streaky made a few in a row missed a few in a row pretty much.Role players did good pretty much 5 guys had atleast 10 points. And damn that pass AI made ally oop for Melo for the dunk Melo had to go so far back to get that one WOW. AI said after the game......................"I wanted to throw it up high so he could make SportsCenter," Iverson cracked. "No, it was a bad pass, honestly. He just showed what type of athlete he is, he went up there and got it."Then Melo was about to post up did a turn around went to the hoop AI thru the ball up to him for another ally oop great game.Wish it was not just Memphis though cause they do suck. hahaha
Yeah that pass that Allen Iverson made to Carmelo Anthony was sick! And Melo did force up a couple in the beggining of the game, but at the end he finally got back in his rhythm. Tonight in Seattle, I think we should see more and better play from the new Denver Nuggets.
So, where is everybody that said Carmelo and Iverson couldn't work together? If I were you I would stay out of this thread too.- I LOVE the chemistry between Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony. They had plenty of fun on the court together, they played off each other well, and they even hooked up for a few huge assists. They both got a decent amount of shots up, although I don't expect Iverson to only shoot 16 shots per game.- Carmelo Anthony looked decent in his first game back. He forced too many shots early, trying to get back into the groove of things and he looked a little rusty. The thing that impressed me most with Melo's return was his ability to find the open teammate. He showed some great court vision last night, you can't judge his passing by his 6 assists. Had some of his teammates finished easy shots in the paint, then he would have much more than 6 assists. Nene fumbled a few easy passes as well as Reggie Evans. Overall, he looked decent. He was obviously rusty but you can't expect him not to be after having 36 days off.- JR Smith played well off the bench for us, I'm happy to see him accept his role and still keep up his solid scoring. He impressed me with his defense last night, he made a lot of hustle plays that lead to a basket on the other end of the floor. He did however jack up way too many three pointers (4-14)- The game shouldn't have been as close as it was, we should have won by much more than 17. We played sloppy towards the end of the game and we couldn't hit our free throws early on. We shot 61% from the free throw line.- The Memphis Grizzlies had some strong points. Chucky Atkins killed us last night, everything seemed to be falling for him. He had 15 and 7 off the bench. The zone defense they played in the 2nd and 3rd quarter was killer. We struggled against the zone for the longest time before we finally started to score. Pau Gasol had a killer game with 23 points and 17 rebounds, they should have kept feeding him the ball because it seemed nobody could stop him.
Yeah I forgot to mention some good stuff for the Grizz. They had some good plays yesterday, many of them featuring Pau Gasol. I think he will be out of the Grizz's franchise pretty soon if this continues.
This is a good game. Nice to see AI and Melo already playing like they've been playing for years. But don't forget this is only the first game they played together.
Ya, in the 2nd half Melo came with so much energy. Yall only made one FG in the 3rd and we were seriously coming back, then Melo had a monster dunk..THROUGH OUR 2-3 ZONE!!! Thats what sealed the game really.
Yeah, they played well and everything for the 1st time ever, and it looks promising, but I can only say one thing. It was against the GRIZZLIES. Worst team in the league record wise. They were suppose to win this one regardless of how Melo and Iverson gel. Its in the right direction, and should help them win a few more games, but wont put them in the class of the Suns, Mavs, and Spurs.

Who better to test the combination out on then the worst team in the league? It makes the transition a little bit smoother, in my opinion, because everybody expected there to be some kinks and rough patches considering Carmelo was out for 36 days. Also, you're right, they are not in the class of Phoenix, Dallas or San Antonio, however I'd say they are right there in that second tier of teams (or at least have the potential to be) with Houston, Utah and the Lakers out West. They're still a piece or two away from legitimately contending for a title, but they are in the right direction, as you stated.
It was against the Grizz, the worst side in the League. Im not going to get excited until they play a good team.

Only the Mavs, Spurs, and Suns are.
