Martin must then decide whether to give a verbal commitment to the Nuggets or the Atlanta Hawks, who have already given the New Jersey Nets' All-Star forward a six-year offer believed to be worth more than $80 million.

No surprise there. Getting Martin should be their top priority. I have a question, if Denver offers a max contract to Martin, do the Nets have enough money to match or no?

So that means if they don't trade anyone it's pretty much sealed he's a Nugget/Hawk? Cool. I'm really starting to like the Nuggets. They have soon to be one of the league's best players in Carmelo Anthony, and if they get Kmart, I can't wait to see some alley-oops with Miller.

So is Denver going to offer the same contract as Atlanta or what? It doesn't mention any terms in that article.

Would Nene therefore become expendable and perhaps a tool used to improve their shooting guard situation? We'll certainly give them Flip Murray and a pick [IMG]

if kenyon signs an offer sheet, the nets have 15days to match that offer. the nets can easily match because they DO have the money. the problem is that the new owner has been classified as a 'penny-pincher' eventhough he denies it. he told rod thorn to do anything to keep kmart w/o having to trade kidd. by ratner's(new owner) quotes in the papers, they nets will resign him. but there are a lot of negativity about him. even if kmart signs and offer sheet (earliest is wed) a sign and trade can also happen if kenyon and both teams agree to one. so him being sealed as a nugget/hawk is totally false. if anything, i would think he will sign denvers offer sheet b/c he is friends with kiki and they are a winning team and atlanta well....it's atlanta. it will be tougher for kenyon b/c he will be banging up against kg,td,webber in the west 4x each compared to only twice if he stays in the east. if hes going to denver, nets better at least get nene back in return.

I heard on Espn tonight that K-Mart will decide to sign Denver offer sheet not the Hawks not really a surprise tho. Denver is offering 6 years-85 millions, I expect the Nets to match this offer sheet even if its to do a sign & trade with Martin to either the Hawks or Denver. But I would suspect if the Nets do chose the sign & trade method with Martin they would send him to the Nuggets to respect the fact that Denver is where he has decided to play. I dont really see any parts on the Nuggets that can fill in foir Martin due to the fact Iam not the biggest fan of Nene or Camby.

Even if the Nets get Nene they are still losing out. Nene doesnt seem to have that passion that K-Mart brought to the table as a Net, & was so important during the Nets playoffs runs the last 3 years. Nene is only 21,so his upside & potenial is unlimited. And he should grow alot as a player, playing alongside kidd similar to Martin. But still you cant teach the passion that Martin brought to the table. Kidd was the Brain, but Martin was the Pulse, and if Martin isnt wearing a Nets uniform next year, the Nets will be regreting the day they let him go, for a long time to come.

It may work out alright for the Nets, as Richard Jefferson will be getting the touches he deserves next year (however many he wants). He is the future of the Nets franchise, and a 04-05 All-Star. If Nene can fit in the flow of the offense, crash the boards with ferocity etc. the Nets should go top 4 in the East. Bring over Nenad Krstic and you have a nice young frontcourt.

Obviously not the optimum situation, but not a terrible one either.

i think we all can agree that if a s&t happens involving kenyon and nene, denver hands down got the better deal. even if a draft pick is involved with nene, you won't know if that draft pick would be worth until down the line. even though nene has some upside, not as much as kenyon. this would be a set backwards for us eventhough rj would be able to grow fast w/o kenyon. this trade woudl basically flip both teams. denver would become what the nets are now and vice versa. except nj has arguably the best pg in the league.

    Well..

Martin wont be as effective as he was in NJ. Most of his PTS came from easy passes from Jason Kidd for an oop or dunk. But now in Denver he wont have a PG to help him out, Miller isnt that good anymore. Hopefully he develops his post game and will eventually become a better player.

That is not correct at all, Martin has averaged a double double without Kidd and him leaving Kidd won't effect his stats purely because the Nuggets are a run and gun style team. He is going to get plenty of fastbreak points.

Andre Miller is not that good? since when? he is a very good point guard who can do alot of different things with the basketball. Despite his assist numbers he is a very good passer, can attack the basket and hit the 15 foot jump shot. He's prefect for the Denver system.
