With Oden and Durant pretty much locked at 1 and 2...who does everyone think will go at #3horford?wright?yi?conley?
Well I'll go ahead and post this anyway...I think the Hawks will keep their pick, or trade it to the Blazers, which in any case, the pick will be Conley. The Hawks most need a PG IMO, and they've passed on Chris Paul and Deron Williams, two really good NBA point guards, and Conley is a hot prospect, so I don't think they want to make another mistake.
I think the Hawks will take Brandan Wright. Hes a very talented(potential pick though)player, and Acie Law might drop to 11 so they will be able to get a PG(which they obviously need) and a possible star. It makes sense, and ESPN resources are saying ATL is going to pick either Yi Jianlian or Brandan Wright and hope Acie Law is at 11.
I still don't understand that though. The majority of their latest picks have been fowards, so drafting another one is dumb when they obviously need a PG. Why pass up the best PG in the draft while hoping Law, who is more of a SG, will maybe be avaliable.
I really dont know why they would want another foward either. I guess they feel Marvin Williams isnt going to be all that great. I personaly think they should pick Conley also, but reports are saying they are leaning towards Wright, then Law. When they could probably get a forward who drops to 11 and they can steal him and get Conley at 3.
To me picking Wright makes the most sense. If they go Mike Conley with the third pick, all the bigmen will likely be gone by their 11th pick. It makes more sense to go for the bigmen early and because Acie Law is sure to be there at 11.
Why go after Brandan Wright though when you are already stacked at the foward positions? Doesn't make sense to me. Plus, don't pass on the best PG in the draft Conley, for Law who isn't going to be as good as Conley, and is more of shooting guard. Plus, he already seems to have some attitude or brain problems by saying he won't workout for any non-lottery teams, even though he's sitting right at the bubble. IMO, Conley is a can't pass for the Hawks. He's similar to Chris Paul and Deron Williams as far as talent level, in which the Hawks could have on their team right now, but passed up.
Because Brandan Wright is better than all the forwards on the Hawks. Plain and simple. It would be smart to take Wright and pray for Law. Conley is a bit of a stretch at 3 and you MAY get teh same production from Law as you get from Conley.
I think there will probably be a forward that drops. There is always a player who we think is supposed to go top 10, but somehow falls. And this draft has plenty of forwards. Either way, if ATL plays their cards right, they will end up with a big and a PG..no matter who they pick at 3 and 11.
I'll be surprised if the Hawks pass up on a good PG AGAIN. Conley at #3. But like someone mentioned, they COULD take a big man at 3 and take Conley at 11 theoretically if no one else is looking to take a PG.

He's the best PG in this draft and if the Hawks don't take him, which I think they will, then some other team will right soon after. If the Hawks don't take him, I hope Memphis does. Conley won't fall past the Bucks or TWolves.
I wouldn't even be surprised if the Hawks pass up on Conley and take another PF that probably won't help them as much as getting a good point would. They know they need Conley and I doubt that Acie Law will give them any more than Jason Terry did or Conley would in terms of improvement.

No farther of a stretch, than getting Law at the 11th spot, who lots of people think shouldn't really go any higher than the Clippers pick. So it really isn't that much of a stretch at all to take Conley at the 3rd pick.As for smart, they need a point guard that can set up the offense, get this team in transition, and create easy shot oppurtunities. They don't need one that is a better scorer than distrubutor in Law. Not saying he is a ball hog, just saying he is better at scoring than distributing right now. They already have their scorers in Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Josh Childress, and all of their wing players. Conley is fast in the open court, can push the tempo of the game, and get this team running out in transition better than what Law could do. He can read things better and hit these guys with better passes. He is also good at feeding big men down low, as he has had alot of practice at it over his life. So Shelden Williams will get better off of Conley's work in the game. This will allow them to have some offensive balanced scoring around the court. Taking Conley at the 3, is filling that spot with the best possible prospect from the draft, and gives them a much better chance of making that a position they don't have to worry about in the future.
