"Trevor Cahill has quickly become a mound nemesis of the Texas Rangers, who for whatever reason have never found much success against a young pitcher who has had his share of struggles against the rest of the league. This time, though, the right-hander might have caught the Rangers at the right time as he pitched well enough Wednesday afternoon to lift Oakland to a 4-1 victory at Oakland Coliseum. The Athletics won two of the three games this week and now sit atop the American League West by a half-game over the Rangers, whose record dropped to 14-14.The loss sent the Rangers back to Arlington with a 4-2 record on their six-game road trip, which overall must be considered a success. But the pitching staff, especially the starting rotation, deserves the credit as the offense did just enough, which isn't enough in the minds of Rangers hitters."We feel like we're getting right where we want to be, and then we have a couple games where we struggle," second baseman Ian Kinsler said. "Our pitchers are going to continue to pitch well, and once we start giving them run support, the wins will start coming pretty easily."None of the wins seemed easy during stops in Seattle and Oakland. The widest winning margin was three runs, and the Rangers won two games in extra innings.Their batting average on the trip was .248 (54 for 218), and they scored 22 runs. The pitchers finished the six games with a 2.67 ERA, which includes the seven runs Scott Feldman allowed Tuesday night.Manager Ron Washington said the Rangers' success will mirror the success of the middle of the lineup, Nos. 2 though 6. That group was 3 for 19 Wednesday."
