California can't fix it's problems by spending and taxing more, the same applies to Greece. This is what he doesn't get, or doesn't want to get for political reasons.
I thought everyone would love this. Seems like a creative way to raise taxes on the poor and cut entitlement programs.
I have to say that it seems like families with an income of under $250K would see their taxes go up by more than a dime. If this passes, I would expect a free press would report it as often, and as obnoxiously, as the infamous "Read my lips, no new taxes" lie was reported. (As they rightfully roasted Bush for his blatant lie to the people that elected him.) But we know the media will look the other way. Go Blazers
Medicare/Caid is overrunning by $800+B a year, but slicing $29B over 10 years is supposed to be a "win"? Let's take $136 a year from aged widows and veterans, instead of fixing how expensive the health care that taxpayers pay for is. :smh:
the crazy thing is: I'm actually ok with raising taxes on those widows and retired veterans, partially because I think that everyone should have skin in the game. Or telling everyone under 50 that they're not getting much from social security in the future, so start making other plans (in a graduated way). But to do these things in a non-strategic manner--cutting things that are already earned and paid for-- seems awfully, well...
More taxes only elongates the damage and prevents reform. Less taxation forces a cut in spending out of sheer fear eventually. It is amusing seeing big-government types pay more taxes, but that is not the right direction to head in as a country.
The problem to me for this and Social Security is that the amount of fraud from people not entitled is staggering. Well over 50% of the monies paid out. But the liberals and liberal activist judges have seen to it that this exists. And it isn't going to go away. I mean, there are thousands of millionaires (as reported a few days ago) receiving unemployment benefits as a small example. I know several people receiving SSI and it's all a scam. I know some fellow vets with PDST that is a scam.... The problem isn't with the programs, per se, it's with the fraud and the promotion of it.
welfare fraud is rampant the trick ive seen numerous times is the father saying he doesnt live at the home (even though he does), so the "single" mother gets cash/ebt/food/housing/heating/etc, meanwhile, the dude is working and using the money to buy big screen tvs, touch screen computers, cars, video games and weed by the bushel, while living in a free house and eating free food i knew a guy who got caught, and welfare said that they now made too much money to qualify for everything SO HE QUIT HIS JOB so they could get the benefits...thats just so backwards it doesnt even make sense, but hey, dont hate the player, hate the game? but all they need to do is offer $1000 to anyone who turns them in, they would be stepping over themselves to stab each other in the back
