Obama Leads McCain 49 to 47 in the newest Rasmussen poll. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/pub...ion_2008_north_carolina_presidential_election It seems like the economic crisis is making a Virginia/North Carolina parlay a large reality. In the other two polls since the financial crisis, the Public Policy Polling found Obama 46 - McCain 46. Civitas had Obama 45 McCain 45. I would imagine Obama has chipped away some of the Bob Barr vote into his column in wake of the financial crisis.
I'd like to see more polls back this up. I just think North Carolina is going to be way to tough to win. It'll be close but McCain will still pull through because of his base being strong in a republican type of state. I do think what makes this at least interesting is Dole is down in a lot of polls in her senate race.
Obama has a +2 lead in the latest Public Policy Polling poll. That's now 2 straight polls where Obama has led, and 4 straight where Obama has either had a lead or was in a tie with McCain.
The map is starting to clearly go Obama's way right now. McCain shouldn't have to spend a lot of money in North Carolina, Indiana, and Missouri, but he clearly has to now. It's October and the fact that these three states haven't started to break for McCain in a big way has to be alarming for his campaign.
