Much ado about one franchise out of a chain of over 5,000. Congrats to that owner for getting international media attention for being a SOB. John Schnatter's the real dick who thinks people won't pay an extra quarter per large pizza so that his employees can have healthcare while at the same time giving millions of pizza's away for free in his NFL promotion.
Actually, I have read numerous articles about companies cutting hours, firing, reshuffling.... to avoid these taxes as margins are razor thin. That will put, probably, millions more onto social services.... and it all just spirals down the toilet. I feel like this is Rome and the dictator is fiddling as it slowly burns.
You're certainly not the only one who feels that way but I imagine some people have been feeling that way since November 5th, 2008, and if it rained money and tits they'd still find something to justify that disposition.
Kind of like that, only this is a democracy and we have a constitution with checks and balances . . . but kind of like that.
I've read entire books about Martian invasions where the entire population of earth is slaughtered and devoured. Doesn't make it true. barfo
It's not healthcare; it's health insurance they must purchase, if not, they are taxed. And you should learn the difference between a revenue-producing activity (marketing) and one that simply deducts from the bottom line. No one is buying extra pizzas because Papa John's provides health insurance. And in this economy, purchasers are more price sensitive than ever, especially given the upward pressure on food input costs to Papa John's.
I dunno. Those people without jobs still hovers around 17%. More than 50% of the population of the country receives some form of "welfare" and now it appears it's going to get much worse. Our national debt has been so substantially increased the last 4 years that pretty much all estimates has the country fully insolvent in 15-25 years (and great debate on how that will go), race, gender and class envy has been ruggedly promoted the last 4 years by the left and we have politicians more divided than maybe ever before in US history. Now the stock market is up (that's good) but companies are hoarding the cash or taking it overseas out of a mistrust of the current administration (much of which I think is wrong), our taxes are going up, fees are either being created or sharply rising and although there are answers to our government's problems, it's all politics as usual. I think that this last 4 years, the great depression and the civil war have been the 3 darkest times in our history.
This. wait, I was just told that when you type "This" after a comment, it doesn't mean "is full of shit". Because thats what I meant.
now Taco Bell does the same http://www.realclearpolitics.com/vi...s_for_workers_to_avoid_obamacare_mandate.html watch all of those that did not get the presidential exemption, the will follow the same example..as predicted, this hurts the poor and many that thought they were going to get free health care..hate to say it but they get what they deserve
We're going to need a new kind of welfare. Not exactly unemployment, but maybe call it "ObamaCare 30 hour employment assistance."
