Republicans will allow Kerry to be Secy. of State. Why? Because it opens up a seat in the senate that republicans feel they can win in a special election.

Republicans (and some Democrats) seem to be opposed to Chuck Hagel as Secy. of Defense. Why? I really don't know.

Democrats seem to be opposed to Obama's appointment of Jack Lew to be Secy. of the Treasury. Why? Murder the rich is why.

FWIW, I think Obama should have his appointees approved.

If the republicans wanted their nominees picked, they should win the election. Republicans are upset that Hagel doesn't follow all of the republican views. It's almost like some democrat nominated him or something! :MARIS61:

Democrats don't want Hagel, either. It's rather significant that Dick Schumer hasn't endorsed him.

Oh really?! I haven't caught up on my politics from the weekend gap. I usually just get my news from NPR commute and Reddit.

The complaints from both sides are that he's anti-Israel. From the left, he also said some anti-gay things (but apologized for them).

Unless they are somehow grossly incompetent, the President should have whoever they want in their cabinets.

It's Chuck, but I agree he's a Dick of the first order.

I agree that a President should have their choice of Cabinet secretaries. I think these picks speak volumes about his philosophy. It's always nice to see the mask slip off of a politician. Hagel is anti-Israel and wants to manage the decline of Defense department.
