"I told my agent and my staff in late December, early January, it would be one year and out," Jim O'Brien said."

Why did O'Brien have that vibe so early into his job?

"I am a very keen observer of humanity," O'Brien said, without elaborating.

Three weeks after the season ended, Billy King, who was the Sixers' president and general manager at the time, fired O'Brien and hired current coach Maurice Cheeks. -- Philadelphia Inquirer

"I don't think there was anything that I was doing that I wouldn't continue to do," he said. "I was trying to build a team. I thought we were building it the way I was hired to build it, change the culture." -- Philadelphia Daily News

O'Brien, who was fired after one winning season with the 76ers in 2004-05, downplayed any personal motivation for Wednesday's game. His players, however, adopted the revenge motive on their own.

"We talked about it, but we kept it amongst the players," Marquis Daniels said. "We just wanted to come out and play hard for him. We talked about it during the timeouts and in the huddles before we took the floor." -- Indianapolis Star</div>

Who cares. He's doing great with Indiana!

Really, he's done wonders with Tinsley, Granger, and Duns.

I always thought he was a good coach. (not the best out there, but certainly better than isiah for example)
