Liz Nichols was pepper sprayed as she was part of a group attacking Portland riot police and she got a mouth full of pepper spray. So she sued and lost a unanimous verdict. Her initial lawsuit demanded $150,000 but the trial went poorly for her and it was lowered to $30,000 to the jury. http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/..._354.html#incart_river_default#incart_m-rpt-2 Some Oregonian comments: kedsokedso First of all, the cops were never needed. Any force was excessive. Most people including most on this jury have no idea where cops come from. Bill Elliott Thank God most juries see through these self created victims and judge by the merits and evidence ppsvet Since it was the Portland Police I guess she's lucky they didn't kill her. If they had, they would have probably have gotten away with that too. I grew up in NE Portland. I didn't trust the police then, and I see no reasoin to change my opinion now. They protect rich neighborhoods, they patrol poor neighborhoods. TommyTerrific She had her day in court and the jury spoke. They saw the video over and over and she still lost. The police didn't get away with anything. Have some run ins with the law?
I was pretty proud of the way PDX PD handled things with occupy. I went down to watch and learn, and saw the police evicting protesters and stuff like that. I also saw how so man of the police around the nation were evil bastards, the PDX pd was not. I think they had a pretty good working relationship with the occupiers and for the most part both sides showed the others respect. But as the police are the officials, it's most important that they show respect, or actually restraint.
Portland has some of the most inbred, retarded, steroid-popping, hate-filled, anti-social, racist, sexist, elitist assholes ever put on this earth. Fortunately for the rest of us, they dress them in police uniforms so we know who they are. If there's one thing that more Portlanders are embarrassed/ashamed of than anything else, it's the Portland Police Dept.
Hey now, I'm a liberal, but in this case I recognize the good job our police did. If I'm going to call them out when they overstep their bounds, which I will, I'm going to give them credit when they execute the responsibilities of their job without overstepping. To many people in general either side with or against the police based on groups they fall into instead of looking at the merits of each case. If we don't rush to judgement, then when we do speak our voices carry farther.
The point I was trying to make was that while the Portland police may be a bit trigger happy and have their share of bad apples, Maris lives in Bend and really hasn't a friggin' clue about the force. It was a pure troll post.
Comedic troll gold! I love it. Ever since I exposed you for being a sheep you feel this desire to sniff after me out of juvenile revenge as an independent and post the same stuff. I personally don't mind because it's evident why you do it. But being a trolling ass doesn't become you. It's funny. So keep it up! HEY EVERYONE, RR7 WANTS EVERYONE TO KNOW I'M A SHEEP. I swear, this is so good it can't be made up. However, the fact you are stalking me is creepy. Do you have some sort of man crush on me? Or, do you have a mental issue I or Denny need to know about?
As usual, you make wild assumptions about someone you don't know. I'm sure I've known far more Portland Police and police in general than you have, I'm not a liberal, and I've never trolled.
Oh you troll a lot here. Not always, but a lot. Sometimes your posts are funny. But don't you think you were being a bit harsh with your comments about the Portland police?
