Basically, he won't be ready for the start of next season.

I'm rooting for the guy as much as anyone, and lament over what we COULD look like with him on the floor. But 10 months after his surgery, he begins running? A year recovery from microfracture is, from what I've read, a very conservative approach. Zach, for comparison sake, was back after about 6 months. I dunno...I guess every person is different, but....this is disheartening for sure.

During our broadcast I thought I heard the same thing, but somebody said they thought he said he could start running in May and won't be ready to go for 5 months.

Just listened to it...... OUCH. Said he won't start doing any basketball "stuff" for over 5 months. DAMN! Will this nightmare ever end?

I'm pretty sure he told Mike and Mike that he wouldn't start running for at least five months. Bummer for Greg. I hope things go better than that for him.

i heard him say at least 5 months too, but I don't remember whether it was for running or playing.

It's not our money, so most say, re-sign him. But if I were Paul Allen and it were my money, this would not be an automatic decision at all.

It's 50-50 that he will ever play--at best--scratch that--make it 33%--at best. Naah, make it 25%. Aw, I give up.

It's rational to not re-sign him and spend the money on real players, but Allen will probably go with wishful thinking. I like him for being a big spender, but if it were me, I'd use my money for surer things.

He said running I'm pretty sure. I'm confident that he won't play until 2012.

I distinctly remember him saying basketball stuff, which doesn't mean he didn't also say running, but I'm pretty sure he didn't. He's going to be so rusty after being out for two years that he'll show up to the PF with a soccer ball. I wish I had the heart to give up on him, but that just isn't going to happen.

It'll probably 2013 before he's full strength again...but when was the last time he went a full year without a major injury? Sigh.

Let's trade him for a goat and then shoot the goat.

Sad, but not surprising. I wish he would just admit he will have to retire, and stop torturing the fans.

It doesn't make sense to me. Is he simply not trying anymore? Is he worse off than we thought? There's something else going on here that's not being explained to us.

Is he not trying? He's working out so much they made him stop so he wouldn't get to big. Sheesh, this sounds about like what they originally said, a year from the last surgery. I can't understand all this neg towards Oden when from all accounts he does everything ask of him in rehab. I think this is why they don't like giving a time table because people will find neg from it no matter what.

You don't think it's strange MGB that he isn't even at the point where he can run yet? In fact, he won't even be at that point for 5 months? That's not weird?

It's very weird. I love that he ends the interview saying he'll back soon. What the fuck? What a joke! We wait all year for him to come back from an injury in which there was no contact with another player and then, after he recovers, he needs MF surgery and can't run til a year later?? That means we don't see him til Fall 2012 at that pace and then we have to make excuses for him til 2013 because "MF surgery takes two years to fully recover.". By this time, he will then have to remember how to play basketball and figure out how to make an impact in this league. This really fucking sucks. AND there's no guarantee that he doesn't get injured again.

Meanwhile, Elliott Williams has had surgeries on both knees and is already practicing again.

Oh and Greg still has to learn how not to pick up two fouls in his first two minutes of play. That could take him til 2014!!
