Offer sheet of course... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/story?id=1594287 <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Heat is officially on the Clippers. Lamar Odom signed a six-year offer sheet worth almost $67 million with Miami on Monday, ESPN has learned. The deal includes a "hefty" signing bonus. A restricted free agent, Odom, who has said he wants out of Los Angeles, told ESPN Monday that he plans to meet with the Clippers -- his current team -- by Wednesday in hopes of pursuading them not to match the Heat's offer. Odom has played his first four NBA seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, who have 15 days to match the offer sheet or lose Odom to the Heat without compensation. It's believed the Clippers will match the offer sheet and keep Odom, just as they did with Elton Brand and Corey Maggette earlier this summer. </div> The question is..to match or not to match? Odom wants out..so if i was clippers i would do a sign and trade..and try to get Jones off heat.. it would help heat to clear room for Wade
yeah odom is not worth that much. allnet, im just wondering why would the heat want to make a sign and trade? im not very knowledgeable about sign and trade and the cap rules./
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">allnet, im just wondering why would the heat want to make a sign and trade? im not very knowledgeable about sign and trade and the cap rules</div> Heat would do a sign and trade because they don't want to take the risk of not getting him..because clips can match the offer. They can force heat in giving them something back for odom....or not get him at all
The heat want to get rid of eddie jones. So the clipps match and trade odom for eddie jones and a 2nd round pick

The Clippers cannot sign and trade Odom to Miami if they match the offer sheet. Per CBA rules. Odom cannot be traded to Miami should the Clippers match it, for a year I believe. So if the Clippers match it, Miami cannot trade for him.
WOW. thats an awful lot of money for lamar odom. the clips shouldnt bother matching it. the funny thing though is that even though that might seem like a lot for lamar odom, kenyon martin is asking for at least 20 mllion MORE than that and he isnt nearly as good as odom. im sure youre all gonna say thats ridiculous but Lamar has a higher career scoring averaged, a much higher assists per game average and get this a HIGHER REBOUNDING average tthan kenyon martin too! yet somehow martin thinks he's worth 20 million dollars more? how does that happen?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting J-MAC:</div><div class="quote_post">They sign him then trade him. that is what a sign n trade is.</div>

That's NOT ridiculous at all. I personally would rather sign Lamar Odom to my team in a flash before even thinking of Kenyon Martin. How does martin think he's worth 20 mill more? it's an absolute joke, one of the best quotes i've heard on this board was when Vintage said "remember the nba's a business, not a game" and it's so true. It makes you wonder when K-mart would rather go to another team for more money and less playoff contention than to settle for "only 67 million" on a team he is already well established with. I hope Lamar goes to the best team for himself because he is an excellent player who deserves to be on a winning team. I'd also like to ask a question. Why is it that Lamar wants so bad out of LA? I know there was a whole thing about no practice facility but was that it? Andre Miller as well? Why are these very talented players wanting to get out of LA so badly, i heard Miller also had a very bad time on the team and also couldn't wait to get away?

I don't blame him. That organization's gone nowhere. I don't know why we have to bring Kenyon Martin into this.
because its a good point on players inflating their value in their heads. people are saying the heat overpaid for lamar odom but somehow martin who has worse numbers thinks hes worth much more
