The death led to the postponement of two games and the suspension of another while across the league players and referees wore black armbands.
A police officer accidentally shot and killed a Lazio fan while trying to contain a clash with Juventus supporters in Tuscany, police said. The victim was identified as Gabriele Sandri, a 26-year-old disc jockey from Rome. He was traveling to Lazio's game at Serie A leader Inter Milan.
The Italian soccer federation postponed the Inter-Lazio game, which will be played at an undetermined date. Also postponed was the Sunday night game between AS Roma and Cagliari in the capital. The other games were ordered to start 10 minutes late.
Juventus rallied from two goals down on the road to tie Parma 2-2. Udinese beat Fiorentina 2-1 to hand the Viola its first loss of the season, and Livorno downed Siena 3-2.
"In the locker room, the feeling was different," Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri said. "It didn't feel like an important game. Everyone was asking if it was right to play or not."
The death prompted clashes between fans and police in Bergamo, where AC Milan was playing Atalanta. The game was suspended after seven minutes when Atalanta fans tried to break through a barrier and storm their way onto the field. It will be replayed at another time.
Atalanta captain Cristiano Doni tried to calm the fans but to no avail, and both teams headed into the locker room.

Another sad day in Italian football and a tragic day for Lazio fans worldwide.

So is this why during the man utd - blackburn game all the players were wearing the black armband? I couldn't figure out what happend and the commentators didn't mention why.
This is bad news for the Italian league.

It is bad news for the Italian league and all over an issue that had no need for gun violence. Shooting a fan no less that was simply driving in his car I believe? What kind of idiotic police force do they have running the streets then? The Roma v Cagliari match was also removed from the day's scheduled matches and will be made up at another date. I hope someone has a Lazio jersey created for the fan with his last name on it to display at the Olimpico for the rest of the season.
